Turkey and the current government's movement towards becoming Islamist from a secular one is going to be the next problem area. The demonstrations against the development of the park was just the beginning.

Well, this Egypt turnover may be sufficient to give Erdogan AND the Turkish people some second thoughts about just how far a gov't can go in imposing Islamic law via a modern government.

In other words, Turkey's leaders think they are next. I sure hope so. Get religion out of government.

Do you seriously think the U.S. government is an atheist one.

Close enough, but if the tbags have their way the US gov will be a christian theocracy

I hate to tell you this but the US government is made up of individuals of many different beliefs and some with no religious belief at all. The US government is to be guided by the written constitution which is religiously neutral (all beliefs are equal) and therefore atheism is as legitimate as any other belief. I agree that there is a loud and persistent extremist contingency in the US that continuously screams that "the US is a Christian nation" which makes them as clueless as the Muslim Brotherhood. Neither group understands what a representative republic is! Thomas Jefferson is credited with writing the constitution and he clearly couldn't , in these modern times. be considered Christian as when he developed his own Bible, he left out all the miracles and other superstitions calling them "unbelievable" and left in only quotes he felt could direct behavior in a kind and moral direction.
