Because material costs and labor are down that 10 per cent increase equates to a 25% increase in profit! Nice one Big Pharm.

and we are not allowed to import any more???

No -- they're raising prices because the time span for generics is shortened and soon the popular drugs will sell for $4....versus $100.

It's the math, stupid.

And it's the backroom giveaways to BigPharma, courtesty of "Cange We Can NOT Believe In."

I for one am sick of the games, the giveaways, the greed, and the lies.

LOL like they listen to anyone. It's too profitable for our government to change the law required to end corporate financing campaigns. The only ones even talking about finance reform is the American people, it's not our government. They make the laws. Get used to the fact that we are slave labors.

Solutions over partisanship.

I thought part of the deal with making corporations people was that they were supposed to be good corporate citizens.

Gee - could it be that corporations are inherently incapable of actually working for anything but profit?

Could it be that government and unions are supposed to be the counter balance to the corporations, as opposed to corporations and government working in collusion?

What a surprise!

I didn't need our intrepid media to tell me that. I gave up one prescription, (out of three), and my cost still rose 40% last month. It's criminal.

Obama's job creation programs have been ineffective

hat tip to: http://financeopinionss.blogspot.com

The only beneficiaries of this 'v shaped' recovery are the bankers, fund managers, and rest of the top 1%

no more bailouts

And as we see, things continue to move along according to plan.
The latest massive heist of the people.
03:00 PM on 11/16/2009
Good grief. I'd like to see the Dems deem this as breach of the White House's deal with PhRMA, announce that the deal is off and proceed accordingly.
03:21 PM on 11/16/2009
This was probably part of the deal. Why do you think it wasn't done out in the open?
02:59 PM on 11/16/2009
This country, ruled by greed and thieves and corruption will never have a health care reform system of the people, by the people and for the people. You are witnessing the beginning of the end of this country as a ruling power. Soon you will be witnessing the end of all ruling powers because of that ignorance and greed when mother nature teaches us all a lesson about BALANCE.

Interesting... so all these drugs that the companies are pushing are not really there to make us well but rather to make them rich?

I wonder why they target only certain segments of society for certain drugs, If they didn't they'd be richer still.
Whatever happended to the hippocratic oath? Oh yeah pharmas are exempt.

I believe we here on huffpo could get together and write a bill in a short time and it would be fair to all and would not more then 25 pages.

H.R. 676 was roughly 30 pages. It was essentially a medicare for all proposal.
REAL solutions are not rocket science.
Making sh|t up to hose people gets complicated - especially with so many dirty little greedy hands in the pot.

So our Commander in Speech doesn't have the foresight to include a price freeze in the interim of his big HCR? Wow - he's smaaaarttt.
02:27 PM on 11/16/2009
A price freeze would work? Really? I seem to recall a price freeze a few years back that once lifted spurred inflation to previously unknown heights. Yeah that'll work. Let's do that again.

I was against back room dealings with Big Pharma period, but if you're gonna do it, at least don't let them bend us all over.

Are you one of the same people saying the proposed healthcare reform is socialism? Then what would government price fixing be? Admit it, you just don't like Obama and it has nothing to do with what he does.
02:05 PM on 11/16/2009
Democrats and Republicans working together at last. Since there is so much of the health care reform bill to dislike - it is a BIG giveaway the the insurance companies - I began to wonder why the republicans oppose the bill for such crazy notions like death panels, socialism, communism. They know how bad the bill is don't they? I believe they are doing this to distract people from the facts. People see these crazy teabaggers on television and say to themselves I'm not one of them, they are nuts. Admitting that the bill should be defeated they would be somehow identifying with these crazies. So they support the bill not knowing how bad it is. How else is it possible to have so many progressives on this site supporting the passage of this bill?

"I am in this race to tell the corporate lobbyists that their days of setting the agenda in Washington are over. I have done more than any other candidate in this race to take on lobbyists — and won. They have not funded my campaign, they will not run my White House, and they will not drown out the voices of the American people when I am president."

-- Barack Obama, Speech in Des Moines, IA
November 10, 2007

The Obama-Biden Plan - http://change.gov/agenda/health_care_agenda/

•Lower drug costs by allowing the importation of safe medicines from other developed countries, increasing the use of generic drugs in public programs, and taking on drug companies that block cheaper generic medicines from the market.
