So it sounds like Apple is moving more towards android. Whats funny is how much apple hates to share any ideas that it comes out with even going as far as suing over patents. However with the last IOS7 update it seems like a cheaper version of android. If I were anyone using android technology I would ban together and start suing Apple give them a taste of what they have been giving them for years and see how Apple likes it.

Although I'm not an Apple fan, in defense of your iPad, HP's tablet/phone app is atrocious. I only read the paper on my laptop. Many, many readers have the same opinion.

Dolphin, a third party andriod browser, is actually pretty good. It is the only mobile browser I have found that actually runs HuffPo well at all.

4.5-4.7? No, 4.3 is the largest they should go.
10:54 AM on 10/08/2013
Wow a larger screen, who would have thought? How about a removable battery and and a SD card capability, and a glass screen that doesn't shatter when you drop it.

No one mentions that the iPhone 5S is far and away the fastest phone out there, with the most responsive screen, according to industry standard benchmark tests. It's twice as fast as the Android darling Galaxy S4. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Not really. People are using bogus CPU benchmarks, not taking into account that all other phones have a CPU and a GPU while the 5S has only a single integrated chip. In actual real world performance the CPU + GPU combo is a lot better for demanding apps.

Not really. I saw a video of a benchmark test on a British website with Galaxy S4 v iPhone 5s. They cleared the cache on each, cleared history and closed any background apps. The phones were side by side and connected to the same wifi.

They tested website access on about 5 high traffic sites. The Galaxy was slightly faster opening one of them but the iPhone was faster on the rest. Then they did some side by side with graphics and the iPhone was markedly better.

I was waiting to see a test like that because the Galaxy has a faster processor but that isn't the only factor in play. Maybe it's the coprocessor or the way the hardware and software work together. I don't know.

Here is the link if you are interested.

so HTC and Samsung haven't already tested the wider screen? Apple is revolutionary in its thinking. way ahead of its time.

Haha. I was just as amazed. Last night I had a dream about several phones called the HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Note, Note II and Note III, Moto X, etc, etc. . .

HAHAHA!!!

Yeah right.
Motorola was the first to have a larger screen and a thin design.
When I first got the droid razr, everybody who owned an I-Phone used to make fun of how big my phone was and called it a "walkie talkie", but I told them to wait and see, because Motorola has always been a "trend setter", and sure enough, Samsung, HTC, and all the other companies started making their phones with bigger screens and thinner bodies.

Apple is the last one to copy the design because they don't want to admit that Motorola made something better long before they did, and that they're going to now start copying the design.

I bought my first iPhone (iPhone 5) in Sept. 2012 and love it. My only complaint was screen size! coming from an android, I really like a larger screen. Plus, I'm now 45 and the old eyes ain't gettin' no better. I told my g/f that while I love the iPhone, if they don't come out with a larger screen by the end of my contract (Sept. 2014), I'm going back to android! So, reading this article is music to my ears. I think Apple should keep the smaller 4 inch screen for iPhone purist, but at least give us a choice!

Big mistake there buddy.

Should have stuck with the MOTO.

They're slimmer, have a bigger screen, are highly water resistant (and somewhat waterproof), have a tougher Kevlar reinforced body, and a screen that takes a beating before it cracks (if it's even able to).

I was looking at an Android forum. Under the user names people have a list of all the Android gadgets they own, complete with what colors they are. I find that Android users are just as status conscious, obviously, as anyone else.

Apple fans remind me of Call of Duty fans.

They come out with a new one every year, and the fans start throwing their panties in the air over it.

I am so tired of reading all the iPhone "rumors"..."projections"..."lined up overnights" and all the other silliness.
I'm really getting sick of Apple, and this coming from someone who actually owns and likes the 4S I use personally.
Honestly, going to move to the G2 just so I can elect out of the "interested" fanboi base.

Nope, changing my phone because I don't want to feel like I'm "invested " in this whole shebang anymore.

I was embarrassed to see the lineup of people outside the Apple Store on North Ave when the "latest" phone came out. I walked by on my way to the shop, saw a pile of discarded moving blankets and sleeping bags that some of these "fans" waiting overnight had tossed away when the store opened.(Chicago, colder at night here)

Aside from the fact that they could have given these to the homeless, it was kind of a turning point in my thinking...lemmings following each other over the cliff, wretched excess, etc.

I really don't want the "guilt by association" thing. Besides, now that Steve Jobs is gone, I suspect the "magic"will soon be gone too. As evidenced by the dearth of new innovations on this last release. So I may as well lead the way out of the tunnel.

Apple needs to just take this all to the logical conclusion:
-A series of devises at various sizes that all do the same things, but fill a different roles for optimized daily uses-

4.5" - 5" screen mobile/pocket devices (phone, text, remote-control, all day apps)
8", 10", & 12" devices for iWork, personal entertainment/gaming, reading, etc
18"- 52" Apple TVs for computing, presentations, gaming, family entertainment, etc

Using all three at once you can have a wireless mouse, keyboard, and large screen interacting together. All would have Wifi and could access the same apps and data.

Then iTunes can just become the all-media center it is heading towards with iRadio and iTV services, as well as your own personal Libraries stored on the largest devices' hard drive and distributed through iCloud.

You can do this with android. They have a variety of phone sizes, Tablets, and now they even have TV with android built in, or HDMI sticks that turn any TV into an android device and they share things like Google music, the kindle/amazon apps, etc.....
