It's really not that big; look, it's resting on top of some leeks.

Very interesting. This remains a culture with much to be discovered and with achievements that are truly remarkable.

The Egyptian-European expedition under the guidance of German-Armenian archaeologist Hourig Sourouzian.
LOL./..
When they say it is "Egyptian-European" expedition they really mean it is an European expedition with Egyptians providing manual labor and making sure nothing is... khem... misplaced.
In time honored tradition of Egyptian archeology, the artifact will be immediately wrapped in burlap. and shoved into a dank storage room. Along with many other priceless treasures of Egyptian civilization.

i think you're oversimplifying a bit. i would be very surprised if some of the archaeologists/egyptologists working at the site weren't egyptian. and Hourig Sourouzian isn't "european", she's an ethnic armenian born in baghdad and raised in beirut.
11:18 AM on 02/28/2010
Simplifying? In what sense?
Fact:This long- neglected site is being excavated with European funds only,
Egypt has little money for their non-islamic heritage. Now if its building giant mosques...
Fact: the team is lead by by European archeologists with Egyptian manual labor.
Fact: stating that the team is Egyptian-European is a PC moniker, having nothing to do objective reality.

so all this time NateGeo was featuring a "manual laborer" called Zahi Hawass?
01:06 AM on 03/01/2010
Fact; Zahi Hamass is bureaucrat, a semi educated man. His main job is to seed all digs with his spies and overseers to make sure that non one removes anything remotely valuable from the digs. He was fired from a previous job because an important artifact went missing in Giza. He very much represents the state of Egyptian archeology.
