no worries, Grayson will fly off the handle soon and unseat Bunning as the most crass person on Capital Hill.

Until Obama says "Tough S**t" to all the special interests he's otherwise inclined to kowtow to, special interests like Wall Street street and the medical industry, He and the other Democrats are saying the same exact thing to all American taxpaying workers--if slightly more subtly.

Good point. Many of them will in the mistaken belief that Republicans somehow represent a moral stance that is different or better than that of Democrats.
10:43 AM on 03/02/2010
Correction: I wonder how many folks that are invonluntarily unemployed will vote Republican in November?
Answer: probably quite a few.

The Dems already have the volutarily unemployed in the bag!

Where'd you come up with that? There are quite a few voluntarily unemployed that I know (or they are working here and there off the books so as not to pay texes) that are all for the republicans - of the too much gummint , no abortions, gimme my gun variety.

When the media moguls go gunning,
For the ill-tempered Senator Bunning,
He will vent forth his spleen,
With a gesture, obscene;
Holds his finger high, while he goes running.

Dems passed the Pay/Go bill. Bunning voted against it.

THEN Dems decided to BYPASS the pay/go requirement and attempt to pass this new spending bill.

Bunning is correct. Which is it Dems............ you simply can't have it both ways anymore.

This is an emergency spending bill.Everything that was passed from 2000 to 2008 was an emergency and paid for through supplementals. That means it was borrowed from the Chinese and added trillions to our deficit
10:27 AM on 03/02/2010
Why do you consider this an EMERGENCY...... it was anticipated.

If the Dems can't find 10b to offset this spending - we are in bigger trouble than even I suspect.

Way to advocate for the people Senator! I know I am mostly preaching to the choir here but anybody who's paying attention should be able to plainly see how the GOP is nakedly advocating for Big Business interests at this point and could give a damn about the little guy. With the recent Supreme Court ruling allowing unbridled campaign contributions from corporations, it's only going to get worse.

It looks as if Bunning is the front-runner for the Marie Antoinette Award for 2010. But it's still early and the "Let them eat cake" competition could heat up by May or June. We should look for more Senators from the South to challenge Bunning's crafty reach for the Award, like that happy warrior, John Kyl.

Hey, all you unemployed workers, make yourselves a bowl of popcorn and watch the fun, if you can afford the popcorn. This is political gamesmanship of the highest order. The drama will be impossible to ignore. We have no idea how tough the shit can get when rabid GOP stalwarts go for the throat of the unemployed, the under or uninsured, or the poor. But stay tuned. We're about to find out.

Bunnig is acting inappropriately, but Congress is to blame - how in gods name could they create a system where 1 individual can completely stop the government from doing anything - god help us!
09:52 AM on 03/02/2010
I absolutely agree, what's the significance of having a Democratic majority in Congress when the Republicans have blocked, and intend to block, every motion that Obama wants to push through?

We hear news stories that Americans are dissatisfied with the government, and what is suggested is that these Republican members of Congress are doing the work of the people - however polls show that much of the ire is directed at their obstructionist ways.

Unreal.

Here's an opportunity to put the spot light on the Republicans behavior by the White House, but they doesn't. They need to play politics like the rest of the No party!
08:39 AM on 03/02/2010
As I read the comments left here perhaps this is a fair statement: It is no so much Bunning's idealogy (forcing the pay as you go as Congress promised, not creating miore debt), but the rude & inexcusable manner in which he did it?

Bunning is out, he already announced his retirement, this is just the final FU.

As a staunch fiscal conservative I can say that this is NOT the way for Uncle Sam to save a buck. Millions of families are relying on these funds to get them through the downturn.

With any luck Bunning will be replaced by a Dr. Rand Paul, who is currently leading in the polls. His opponent (Trey Grayson) is Mitch McConnell's boy and GOP beltway favorite. Go Rand!

His middle finger was essentially given to any and all Americans whom have struggled with unemployment and collected benefits at one time or other. It's a slap in the face to all the hard working people in this country from an arrogant man. He and his party should be taken to task.
