OBL has assets including a very nice apartment in Paris. His wives and children live there.
06:13 PM on 05/08/2010
The guy is a Saudi Arabia prince wahabi bastard!
He has hundreds of wifes and thousands of children and grand children all over the planet, including many US who were send back to Saudi Arabia the day after 9/11.

He does not himself know even the name of these sons, daughters and wifes!
You can find these people in every nice luxury corner of the world.

What do you want to do with them?

KattyM, I'm an American lawyer in private practice; I'm not in that chain of command, and have no authority to do anything with them. Are you making an assumption that I am?

As for OBL, it's well known that he visits these homes quite often. If the FR govt. knows and fails to act, the US govt. has to object, not me.

I don't know nor did I address whether OBL 'knows' these wives and children. Apparently you have better contacts on that.

So many people seem to be missing the fact that Ahmadinejad wasn't being serious here. He was asked a question, based on what he felt was a very flimsy source, that he found to be rather absurd. He was just twisting the question around and throwing it back at Stephanopoulos. Ahmadinejad wasn't avoiding the question. He was outright mocking it. At the end though, he does give a direct and unequivocal answer by stating that anyone crossing into Iran illegally would be arrested and Bin Laden would be no different. I just can't believe people are so blinded by their prejudice against Ahmadinejad that they can't even tell he's clearly just mocking the reporter here. The guy might be a slimy little weasel at times, but he's neither crazy nor stupid. He's a fairly gifted politician who knows how to take these stupid questions and turn them right around on the reporter. I wish the American media would figure this out already so people like Stephanopoulos could stop coming out looking like a fool in interviews like this.
12:22 AM on 05/08/2010
I agree with you totally. There was absolutely nothing wrong with what Ahmadinejad said in this interview. He actually made good (albeit sarcastic) points, managing to make Stephanopoulos look like yet another crap American journalist. And even if Ahmadinejad did know the whereabouts of Bin Landen, (which I believe when He says he doesnt) why in the world does Stephanopoulos think the President of Iran would tell HIM?!!!!
I'm sick of American journalism asking stupid questions they know can't be answered directly in order to boost their ratings. Not impressive.

I'd hold back on pronouncing whether he's crazy or stupid. Besides, isn't he just a puppet for the Mullahs?
08:23 PM on 05/08/2010
He's not a puppet. Most of them actually don't seem to like him because his personality runs rather contrary to most of theirs. People like Khomeini prefer to take a more subtle, pragmatic approach to governance, so Ahmadinejad's approach probably tends to annoy them. I assume they put up with it because it plays very well with the very conservative and very nationalist factions in Iran, the Iranian version of teabaggers if you will. Regardless, the president in Iran, like the president in most countries other than the United States, holds very little executive power and is merely the head of state. So, while Ahmadinejad is tasked with acting as the representative of the state, he has very little actual executive power himself. He's a glorified spokesman for the government more than anything. It's one of the major reasons why Iran isn't nearly the threat most people assume they are. While Ahmadinejad likes to play up the confrontational nationalist angle, the people, like Khomeini, who are really in charge of the country are much more pragmatic, thoughtful, and seem intent on avoiding confrontation as much as possible because they realize that it's in Iran's long term interest not to stir up too much trouble.

As prep@oterous as Ahmadinejad might sound on thsi issue but lets not ignor the other side.

He was asked that there is a film coming out that say OBL lives in Tehran. As a president of one country what do you except him to say? Ouhh yeas Stephanopoulos....... he live right next door to me?
He more than likely has dished out what he was served.

To prove allegation like this you need something more than a film, like intelligence perhaps?

Mr. Stephanopoulos, Next time present a better proof than a fim made for cable channel, that might work better. Something like[Words on the streets are that Osama lives in your neighborhood] lol

Why because he standing up to the bullies? Why because he called their bluff and took the western and Israeli bulls by the horn right in the heart of the world's financial capital? Why because his speech at the UN on the subject was based on facts and logic? Why because the west couldn't respond and as a result, their delegate meekly walked out? Why because he was not afraid to attend when Mrs. Clinton spoke whereas she did not have the guts and deceny to sit and listen to him?

Yes, you disappoint educated and decent human beings.

your comment sounds like a knee jerk reaction and his comment has facts and information in it ,now which one would you think was "completely irrelevant and nonsensical. ".
To many people think that because someone has the gut to stand up to Americas imperial ways they are "a loony and dangerous megalomaniac" .
Give examples of how or why AHMADINEJAD is...
1)a loony
2)a dangerous megalomaniac
and you might try a explain why hodz comment is "completely irrelevant and nonsensical" .
P.S. you are sounding bigoted rather than reasoned.

Considering Achmedinejad's history of bizarre behavior; this sounds more like wishful thinking Bin Laden is in Iran.

The theocracy would never tell him anything that important if true; maybe Murdoch will offer him his own show to fill out the Faux stable.

He fits the number one criterium: consistency.

I am usually a fan of Stephy, but no matter how much we may despise M.A. he is a foreign head of state. You don't ask absurd, disrespectful questions of a person of his stature. What this means is, we should never stoop or compromise our character, professionalism and dignity no matter who the person happens to be. The absurdity of the question lies in the negative likelihood that he is going to spill the beans to George even if OB was actually in Tehran.

This guys kind of nuts, but my husband believes Osama is no one but a boogy man and a member of the C I A.
Kids, if they don't keep all this stuff going, all these munitions manufacturers will have no need to make and sell their goods.
Know how much these people make annually, no you don't, know one does. And who arre they? Who takes arms we give to I s rael and sells them to this guy? Oh you don't think so, you're living in a fairy tale. Happens daily, they need to keep this h ate and w ar going, trillions depend on it, so keep on
h ating, you're giving them the fuel for their fire.

Bin Laden is the Goldberg of our time.

A fictional bogeyman splashed all over every news source to scare Americans into doing and going along with whatever our corporate lobbyist corrupted government wants.

If the U.S. wanted to catch and/or kill him, he would already be dead already. But that would not be profitable.

Madison avenue could not possibly have come up with a boogey man as massively powerful as Osama. That we should give away so much of our power and dignity fighting one man is depressing. That we should feed so many American lives to this monstrous figment is reprehensible.
08:45 AM on 05/07/2010
As an American, I hate this guy with the same patriotism as the next.

That said, he brings to light some dirty laundry about why America is hated and attacked, so let's stop and listen to where he is coming from, rather than the crap idiots Limbaugh, et al.

America has become a militant imperialist, forcing others to live under our rule and with corporate profiteers sanctioned by none other than good ole US of A. America harms people and tramps their freedoms and human rights. We do that, or rather, we the voting people allow our government to be run by corporations that are doing that in our name.

We are not being attacked because people are afraid of our freedom. You should shun any politician or commentator that is feeding you such lines of bull.

Our safety is threatened, by the likes of this man and his crazy people.... but we are the target for probably very good reason.

Do you like living in fear, having your privacy invaded all the time? Think about what America can do to hold sacred your rights under the constitution. It isn't killing every single terrorist! It's killing the corporate strange hold and its evil greed.
12:08 PM on 05/07/2010
Is patriotism about hating people? is this man any "crazier " than Bush Lieberman , Palin McCain
or even Obama who seems to take terrorism to new " heights " with his Drone bombardment of anyone suspected of disliking being colonized?

In order to commit murderous acts against a fellow human being one must first demonize them and see them as "other " crazy lazy etc. Please stop labeling your brothers and sisters in this way thereby facilitating the continued oppression and murder by your brutal CIA and MIC masters .

The US made a massive mistake lionising Bin Laden. By doing so, it made him seem even more heroic to those who would die for him. The US essentially made Bin Laden into the arch-enemy of the US president and the entire country, which made Bin Laden look great for being able to stand up to the "great superpower" and damage them immensely
09:24 AM on 05/07/2010
Remember that America needs and enemy, death or alive.
