You view them as some sort of alien, that colors your perception of it's people,

Instead of just saying "strange", how about being more specific about what is influencing your opinion so that we can have an honest debate about what, I sense, are your prejudices.

I'd also like to know what life experiences of yours, outside of your "education", has brought you to feel disturbed and somewhat threatened by rural culture.
--------------------------------------
Strange in that it has a very southern feel to it and it is not quit the south. I'm not threaten by rural culture at all as it was I who suggested we visit W.Va to recruit more rural students.

I had numerous voice mail messages each evening from the Mike Oliverio campaign.....guess what they ALL had in common? Yep, abortion......its only a matter of time. Oliverio is no democrat, he should change his party affiliation.....his father must be so ashamed.

Cap and Trade is a big NO in WV. Mollohan waited until Pelosi had the votes to announce his No vote. He did not speak out on it and WV saw it for what it was. Pelosi strikes again. Instead of representing his constituents he was taking orders from Pelosi. I bet he is throwing darts at a Pelosi picture.

If you look at Mollahan's voting history, the Obama agenda then compare that to what Oliverio has stated during his campaign as to why he's running you will see that Oliverio stands against most of what's coming out of Obama/Democrat Washington.

Now comes the interesting part, seeing if WV will go the extra step and seat a GOP candidate over a Democrat. It depends on who can tack to the right deftly enough not to alienate the center/left portion of the state.

Please, please begin a write-in campaign, Mr Mollohan.

WV will suffer horribly under Mike Oliverio, who will not make choices that will benefit most WVian's. He is a radical conservative DINO and we don't need him to push us back to the late 1900's. He is also a financial advisor......Wall St. anyone?

"Conservative media rallied around the ... as did anti-abortion groups angry over Mollohan's support of health care legislation."

Conservatives in sheep's clothing. We are screwed. As far as government spending?

Bush was a "fiscal conservative" if you mean that he doubled the deficit by five TRILLION dollars, gave tax cuts to his "constituents" (see a film) composed only of people making $1,000,000.00 or more, spent three generations of American wealth in eight years... the list is endless.

And any politician that mentions the deficit or reducing spending? Why, we have all heard that line in so many campaign speeches over our lifetimes. And where are we? See the previous paragraph.

These people are not serious. We are not, as Americans, serious in living within our means. After all, if your politician does not deliver the pork... NEXT future incumbent.

Look at all those Republicans down there on The Gulf Coast. They just screamed for liability limits and restrictions on lawsuits. Yet they are the first to line up for their lawyer when economic reality hits them. I guess they never thought it would happen to them. Hypocrites.

And Dims? You cannot get your act together to accomplish anything meaningful if you vote for your Establishment.

I think the primary fights are going to be the toughest for encumbents of all parties this year. There is lower voter turnout for primaries and those who do turn out are more likely those who are upset at the status quo.

3 states....2 DISTRICTS....yeah o.k. Let me guess, the state losses have absolutely NOTHING to do with Obama but the district wins had absolutely EVERYTHING to do with Obama.

FANNED!!

For these conservatards, "Obama" only has significance is "local elections" when they can spin it in their direction! And obviously, THEY PUSHED DISTRICT 43 in the opposite direction, by getting their (giggle) "brilliant minds" like Palin and Limblob involved in an election that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM.

I've got to "pity the fools". Have you ever seen ANYONE so impressed with mediocrirty?

There is no choice for working Americans. Support a dem and some positive change will occur, e.g. health care, regulation of financial markets, etc.. Support a repug and guarantee the further deregulation of markets, the outsourcing of jobs, offshore tax shelters, exploitation of the worlds resourses, and the continued destruction of America.

Nope.

WV went for McCain/Palin but once Obama was elected we in WV were willing to give him a chance and see where he planned to take this country. We have seen and we say no. Mollahan was nothing more than a rubber stamp Democrat who voted to "get along", ensure his seat and maybe bring home money to his district.

We in his district simply decided that he was voting to take this country in a direction we didn't want and had also been in office too long. Outside of the right wing political apparatus in the state the ethics charges against him didn't really matter since he was cleared.

It indeed does have to do with the Obama agenda.

We practiced term limits in the best Constitutional way of our country ... we voted him out.

All this anti-incubent, panicky, "arm eged don", glo om-and-do om hat e-speech if obviously instigated by REPUBLICANS. And for good reason! They SHOULD be the ones who are a fraid. VERY a fraid.
Not only because we now have an INTELLIGENT and progressive Executive Branch. But also because the senate is just ONE VOTE AWAY from republicans having VIRTUALLY NO VOICE. And even though we are one vote short, there always is that chance, however infintesimal, that at least one republican senator will cave in to conscience, or better yet, public opinion, and vote along with the Democrats.

We need to pick up at least one more Democratic senator. Or better yet, TWO! Then we'd no longer have to pander to babbling-vessel-of-bile Joe Lieberman (I-CT).

C'mon. people! Get out there!! MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

Anti-incumbent sentiment is NOT reserved for Democrats only. Every Republican incumbent is just as vulnerable. Just ask Bennet of Utah. Careful what you wish for. While the anti-incumbent sentiment may hurt the Democrats, it could just as easily help them. Anti-incumbent does NOT translate into pro-conservative or anti-liberal. Bennet was ousted because he wasn't conservative enough for Utah republicans. There are plenty of states where the constituents are unhappy with their current Democrat in Congress, and they are looking for another Democrat to take their place. In my own state there was a strong anti-Dodd sentiment which had much to do with his decision to retire. However, we don't want a Republican to take his place, as the polls all show. We want a more progressive Democrat and we have one in Richard Blumenthal. While anti-incumbent fever infected the people of Connecticut, it didn't turn us into a bunch of rig ht w in g n ut j ob s. And to think the House will return a GOP majority is just wishful thinking. There is plenty of time between now and November. The anti-GOP sentiment in America is just one financial reform bill away from manifesting itself in a Democratic victory in November. Let the GOP vote against Wall Street reform and the backlash will propel Democrats to stronger majorities in both houses of Congress.

hahahahahahahaha... before the election of Scott Brown... the Dems DID have that ONE VOTE and cried the whole time that the big bad republicans weren't letting them do anything. That's why they don't have that vote any longer.

Dems need to make up their mind... either the 60 votes means something or it doesn't. You can't try to get people fired up to give you 60... then when you get 60 whine that it's still not enough.

Would you prefer a republican majority? Look how well that worked out for Bush! They were ALREADY the "party of NO" before Obama took office!
While actual "accomplishments" are scare on the GWB report card, he actually DID negaotiate a deal with senate Democratis, in the form of "The Immigration Reform Act of 2007" (a.k.a. S.01639; roll Call 235 of the 110th congress) The overwhelming majority of Democratic senators voted "aye" for this immigration bill THAT W. BUSH SUPPORTED!
Unfortunately for everyone (esp Latinos in AZ), the bill FAILED 46-53, with the overwhelming majority of republican senators (37) voting "nay".

And now the republican majority in Arizona has the brass ba//s to pass a hate-law against Latinos, whining that the Federal Government refuse to take action.
Talk about AUDACITY!!
Their own guy (W) worked up a plan with senate Dems (INCLUDING Ted Kennedy and John Kerry) that the republicans KILLED!
So now tell me again, WHICH senate majority would you prefer??
