This made me sick. Are these the same people who were victimised during the holocaust? What happened to their compassion and humanity?

Yeah, that's one. Palestinians have the idea of victimizing civilians down pat. But then again, the big bad Israelis made them that way. Jeesh. Check out "Honestreporting.com" sometime. You just might learn something.

Another link to the propaganda machine? What about defending the truth?

google about the founding and leaders of "honest reporting". Not exactly unbiased itself. Founded by UK Jewish students during the intifada to counter what they felt was "negative reporting" in media against Israel. Nice name, not exactly accurate.

Of course, all of Israel's accusers are big hypocrites. Israel just needs to remind the Turks, Iranians, Syrians, etc. of one thing----the KURDS ! ....Speaking of somebody (a group much bigger than the Palestinians) denied a homeland.

BTW, it appears this ship was carrying a lot more then humanitarian items. Israel was right this time.

Why can't the US find national leaders with grit and integrity, like Benjamin Netanyahu? Wasn't he born in the US anyway? When he is done being Prime Minister of Israel, could he come and take over for milketoast Obama?

It is one thing to demand to inspect ships to see if they are delivering weapons...
... it is quite another thing to show up shooting and murder people delivering relief supplies that do not contain weapons.

Israel is wrong here.
The demands to keep Palestinians prisoner by blockade is indefensible when the blockade covers non-weapons materials.. .

100 trucks a day go to Gaza through Israel with humanitarian goods. You don't know what you are talking about.

Flotilla folks attacked Israeli soldiers who boarded to inspect. Items like night-vision scopes, apparatus for rocket-launchers, etc. found on ship.

"Israel is facing an attack of international hypocrisy," Netanyahu said in a statement broadcast from his office."

Notice the word "attack". As the renowned Israeli writer, Amos Oz, said in an NYT Op Ed, you can't fight ideas militarily. Viewing Israel from a compassionate perspective, one can understand why a state that in its inception was mostly populated by the survivors of the Holocaust would continue to view ideas as dangerous; after all, that was how Nazism began. But as they now have a flourishing economy, a strong military, a world renowned intelligence agency and nuclear weapons, it's time to throw off the victim persona and join the world.
07:29 AM on 06/03/2010
World renowned intelligence agency hardly, Dubai incident case in ppoint. What they do have is a great PR machine which buries most of their goof-ups effectively... Though with a little research u can come across most of them.

I agree with everything else u say....

How can Israel divert the world's attention from itself now?

It will definitely plan something big - some sort of explosion or catastrophe - that will be set up to incriminate Muslims.

They've done it before and for sure they will do it now.

You are so right, it'll most likely happen next Monday and this whole incident will never be addressed again just like Operation Cast Lead. The spin-masters are in control. The USA is well trained to do and say nothing, Obama's silence is still discouraging but not surprising.
07:12 AM on 06/03/2010
It's a good thing Israel has Netanyahu right now. Israel has every right to blockade terrorists from getting weapons to use against her citizens.
07:18 AM on 06/03/2010
Haven't they already established the contents of the ships? They were full of medical supplies like crutches and wheel chairs.
07:22 AM on 06/03/2010
There was no weapons on board. The boat was checked multiple times in Europe, Cyprus, Turkey. There were no weapons on board. Heck, even the Israelis knew that there were no weapons on board; otherwise they would not have sent soilders onto the ships "unarmed".

The ships were attacked at night, when most passengers and crew were below deck asleep. All ships in the flotilla were in INTERNATIONAL waters, not Israel's territorial seas. Attacking and seizing a ship, its cargo and taking passengers-crews hostage is an act of piracy or war per international maritime laws, or could be deemed terrorism.

This was not the first, or likely to be the last, incident where unarmed relief-aid workers, journalists or peace-keeping troops have been attacked and killed by the IDF: Rachel Corrie, UN peace-keepers in Qana 2006, UNRWA relief workers in 2009, and now this humanitarian mission in which 19 were killed.

Accounts from eyewitnesses who've been released thus far state the passengers-crew on board the first 5 (of all 6 ships) did not resist, but waved white flags, yet were pummeled with rubber bullets, tazers and live ammunition nevertheless. Those on the 6th ship did resist, but did not attack, but did resist with kitchen knives and whatever items they had at their disposal.

The IDF jammed all ships' communications frequencies, seized all recording devices, video equipment and cameras of crew-passengers, then destroyed tapes-photos, except only the brief, edited one Israel has put out. Former US Ambassador Edward Peck, on board one of those ships gave an interview last night on Countdown. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/#37479590

Is not the judgment of the majority of the world's countries, democracy?
07:18 AM on 06/03/2010
yes it is. but so is the right of self defense. Israel shouldn't have to slit its own throat and they have every right to go down fighting. when north korea threatens to start a war, everyone walks around on tip toes. if Israel is pushed into a corner and responds, I think the damage would be far greater. so why would the terrorists want that and why would the sheep support it? it seems obvious that iran wants Israel to bomb her. they're looking for an excuse to drag the ME into turmoil because they believe their iran/turkey/syria axis can pick up the pieces.

07:27 AM on 06/03/2010
Well, it is about them. Their right-wing, violent Muslim Neighbors want them dead, always have. Got to survive, right? Or do you think the proper thing is to die, go away and allow the right-wing Muslim haters to win, take-over? The left is dead wrong on this one. Being cozy with those with a violent agenda is wrong. Come on, Hamas kills Gays, throws opponents off of buildings, fires rockets at Jewish children, burns down summer camps in Gaza. This is really what the left wants to support? You want to help them create a Jew-free land where Islam rules? How about that the US just killed over 20 women and children in Pakistan, is that on your radar? No, just Israel. Hate is hate and you are on the side of hate. There was a time when the left had some credibility and had good on its side. Not now.

At the begining, jews had to fight a diplomatic opposition to create their country on arab territories (search Sykes-Picot). They decided it was unfair and carried the fight on terrorist and military level (Irgun, Stern).
Through treason (king David hotel, deir yassin massacres, lavon affair, and so on), they managed to have this country recognized at the international level.
The arabs screwed up in the move decided to move their fight on political level and, yes, terrorist level too (it should work for me if it works for my ennemy...). It was the time of the PLO.
Since it was out of the agenda to have any discussions with opponents, Israel decided it was a good joke to help the religious opposition in Palestine in order to weaken the PLO (and the Fatah). And you know what, it worked... And now you have to face the Hamas Israel has helped at start.

It's about the same story as for the CIA training and financing the Taleban to fight the Russians. It blew back.

As long as the extremists having plaid that game will stand on their positions, there will be no peace.

You simplifications are just a mayhem of reality, leading to nowhere...
