It's truly frightening the amount of racism we have in America right now, it's back to 1963 levels
10:07 AM on 07/13/2010
It's painfully obvious that so many on the right would dearly love to go back to the days of "strange fruit".

The NAACP is rather selective in it's condemnation of racism. Guess they are still working on their condemnation of these SEIU members. What a joke.

The NAACP, once a civil rights organization, is now nothing more than a political mouthpiece for radical leftists politics. They have lost their mantle of integrity and act like the NAAWP. And for Michelle Obama to subtly encourage black hostility is really dangerous to civil discourse and behavior in America. Look at the video of King Shabazz inciting the murder of white women and children - she has certainly encouraged him.

Read the headlines and see the disgust Americans feel for government as the President's confidence ratings fall below the favorables, Congress at 15% and politicians in general turning peoples stomachs. Something started about a year or so ago when disgruntled voters streamed into Congress members offices loudly disrupting proceedings to demand to have their voices heard. Essentially, it was the beginning of the Teas Party groups informal gathering to what is now a strong voice for saving America. And that strong voice is recognized by the Democrat leadership to be a threat determining their retention in office to be dealt with. Accordingly, the leadership has turned to the most devastating weapon in the furtive Democrat arsenal -- charging "ra ci sm," the cudgel used most effectively to silence whites daring to challenge a black president. Now in play we see the NAACP parading around examples of Tea Party slogans and signs mocking the president as though nearly identical mockery have not always been used. But worse we see and hear charges not proven to be Tea Party based, for example, the unproven DC "spitting" and "racist" moments aimed at Democrat Congress men/women................want to gain advantage? Holler "ra ci sm." Works every time! Or wear a swastika armband and mingle amongst Tea Party demonstrations to have the media cooperate in demeaning what are basically decent people.......Tea Party men & women practicing democracy democrats try to replace with socialism.

Independent.... and proud of it. Getting my country back..

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the end of any nation.

You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

99% of the national weath is in the hands of 1% of the population. Most of this wealth is stored off shore in tax havens and the money they are taxed on is often less than the averge citizens.
So let's support these titans as they create jobs in China and 3rd world countries.
They have been so generrous in their trickle down largese on the streets of Beijing.
Now let's rally round the flag and kick our fellow citizens to the gutter for their misfortunes that we have and take forgranted.
More than 25% of veterans are homeless and live in the streets. Let's sink in the boot as thanks for their service.

the rich are getting richer on the backs of the poor so why shouldn't they get their fare share? (the poor)
why should people have to slave at a job for 1001 hours and not be fairly compensated?
the rich get tax breaks and the poor get to go home and explain to their families why they have to choose between the lights and food or food and rent
trickle down economics sure as hell hasn't worked

Every republican I know harbours ill tward anyone that is not white, christian, or affluent. They don't like blacks, latinos, gays, asians, or even natives. They only like there own kind. So for anyone to say that there is a small percent that "may be racist" is a fallacy. I have lived all over this country and met all kinds of people, from all walks of life and all races and the only thing I will say is "Give Them Hell" NAACP.

The Teaparty wants to push us past the Civil Rights Era right into the Taliban era, of right wing terrorism gone wild in America. The rhetoric coming the teaparty is rife with outright lies, threatens outright violence against America. This is much worse than simply moving pre-civil rights era, because the Teaparty wants us to move into the Neo-Christo-Taliban era, bullet box or ballot box, and seeing how they bought all the guns and ammo in America, I think the bullet box is coming whether they win elections or not. I have never seen this level of threat of national terrorism to rival what Al Qaeda has done in Afghanistan, poised, ready to take over America, from the Teabagger congressmen, to their propaganda media outlets, to the churches, talk of war against liberals, and most liberals aren't even looking for an argument, much less a gunfight.
06:56 AM on 07/13/2010
All this is for is to keep their members in line and discourage black people from participating in the grassroots movement. Tea Partiers will continue to back fiscal conservative candidates and vote out the corrupt politicians in Washington. Anyone can do that no matter what their race is.

how come The Party was holding protests against President Obama and his administration weeks BEFORE he was even sworn into office?

We had a pretty good idea of what Obama's policies were before he took office. It's not like he spent the previous year in a media blackout.

" A Washington Post-ABC News poll released back in May suggested that 28 percent of Americans see racial prejudice as an underlying element of the movement."

Roughly the same percentage of Americans believe extraterrestrials walk among us.

Actually 60% of college educated people think ET's have visited earth, not walked among us. Only 35% of non high school graduates believe that ETs have visited earth, and coincidentally, the uneducated tend to believe the government more than the educated, well, at least when its a GOP administration.

S-i-g-h.

First, not all Tea Partiers are racist. Having said that, they would be well advised to try to kick the racists that do exist out of their group: there is absolutely no room in American politics for racists. ("Free" speech is not unrestricted speech, by the way: for example, you can't yell "Fire" in a crowded theater--unless there is a real life-threatening fire.) (And no, I don't consider civil rights and/or the election of an African-American President "life threatening".)

The Tea Party lost all creditability with me when those god-awful anti-Obama signs first started showing up. Among other things, these "Know Nothings" (we've gone through something like this movement before--way back in the mid-1800s) display their ignorance of both history and political science, i.e. how the system works.

And personally, I really, really resent the notion that either Conservative Republicans and/or Tea Partiers speak "for the American people". They certainly don't speak for me. I wish we could get over the divisions and ALL of us recognize we are all Americans first who just happen to disagree on the appropriate and proper role of government which is indeed a debate worth having--but only if it's civilized and name-calling is brought to a complete and unequivalent halt.

Politically you have to wonder what is the strategy?
1. 90% of African Americans vote democratic, so mobilizing the base will have a marginal effect on turnout.
2. Using the AZ 1070 and Amnesty to mobilize Latino voters will be mixed in result. Many Latinos that were naturalized through the 1980's Amnesty will support and vote democratic, Non citizen motor voters will also support and vote democratic, however, many latinos that applied, waited, paid fees, and went through a years long process generally do not support Amnesty.
3. Blame Bush will only be marginally effective for those that are not already part of a strong Democrat voting block, The BOB strategy will only make the POTUS look weak as he now owns the mess he fought so hard to win.
In the end many independents that voted Obama (the key to 2008), will desert the voting block, the latino block will be much weaker than anticipated, resulting in a questionable strategy. Only setting up expectations that the House and Senate might fall (a real long shot bet) will the Democrats manufacture a perception that they "won". Meanwhile Democrat activists are now publishing reports of election manipulation especially in the early caucuses that are reputation damaging and further poison to the Independent voter.
It looks like Axlerod and Rahm went to the well once too often.

Hypothesis without foundation.
If your master plan is to rile the black and latino voters expect a far higher turn out at the mid terms. Do you think the races are not offendable by an obvious pandering to white voters?
Do you think the more the anti minority platform is evoked the more likely the minorities will sit on their hands and not get out to vote?
Polls are becoming less and less reliable as they are tied to calling on land lines. The only people that still have land lines in any sort of number are old and white, I think the current estimate is 70%.
I barely know anybody who has a line connected phone anymore,
Expect a margin of error skewed to more than 20% error on polls and until they start polling on cell phones expect it to become worse.
06:26 AM on 07/13/2010
If you think polling is only done on land lines, you're out of date.
