I wouldn't be too surprised if the tack of the GOP now will be that the DNC are making too light of the serious issues facing America. That may be the only way they can refute that Republican Teabagger Contract that the DNC has put out to counter what the GOP has been merely spewing. So, true to form, Beck will devote almost his whole tee-vee show to this starting on his radio show. Expect major tears from Beck on this too. You know, patriotic music being played in the background, he getting very emotional (VapoR@b at the ready) and using lots of words again such as "liberty, patriots and freedoms, blah, blah". He might also cue some video of emotional teabaggers at any one rally. As far as Rush, he will make sure he addresses this by making a further devisive comment about Obama, specifically, and will be as shocking as ever and just to devert his dittoheads attention away from that counter-contract the DNC has put out. This is all getting too easy.

You would think....Unfortunately new research suggests that misinformed people rarely change their minds when presented with the facts -- and often become even more attached to their debunked beliefs. The finding confirms a key principle of a strong democracy: that a well-informed electorate is best.

Pretty clever strategy of the DNC. The point in fact, at one time there was one or more Republicans that did l@y claim to every one of those points in the Republican Teabagger Contract with America. If any Republican tries to deny it or spin it in an opposite direction, I'm sure there is video somewhere to refute it. And, even more interestingly, Michael Steele hasn't really been following the GOP mantra in totality. So, he is really no help to the old guard in the GOP, Boehner, Gingrich, McConnell, etc. who have been trying to set any sort of an agenda for November.

the coffee party, which i looked at several months ago, looks like a very moderate centerist and pro establishment group.

is that how you see it?

because for those of us on the left that believe in a progressive agenda, the coffee party doesn't sound like it is a place that will help our cause

As a backstop or a progressive agenda, they are far superior to the far right mentality of the Repubs, the tea party and conservative Democrats!

This not an ethics violation as much as it is a criminal case. How is it the congress has the power to make a serious felony an ethics violation? If any average American did what Rangel is accused of they could expect to have everything they thought they owned seized immediately ,all bank account frozen and tossed into jail so quickly you'd better not blink or you'd miss it.
It is clear who the elites are in our government ,everything congress does ,for the exception of responsibilities , stinks of corrupt elitism. I read that a congressman can retire with a full pension and many perks after serving just one term.

This is the beginning, if Rangel committed any crimes, they will come to light, if his dealings are all legal, just unethical that is a slightly different matter.

However, the perception of corruption and impropriety should force Rangel's resignation.

There's not a single similarity between the Teabaggers and a hot guy. For starters, have you SEEN the freakin' Teabaggers??! The men who make up this 'Tea party' are mostly ancient, bald, fat, and just plainly unattractive. Not to mention it's not very attractive when you're constantly yelling about things you have very little knowledge about and throwing in a bunch of bigoted statements about African-Americans, gays, and Muslims.

Oh come on now Michael. Look at how their white dimpled skin glows in the moonlight, the flirty swish of their tea bags, the glitter of pork rind dust teases your senses and touches your foolish heart. ;-) :-D .

More like the women (and men) who seek out the partner with issues because abusive and dysfunctional relationships are all they've ever known.

To our credit some of us do manage to break that cycle. I grew up with all sorts of abuse and ran away the other direction when I could. I married the nicest man I knew. Most women won't date their "friends" and that's why they're so unhappy. Why be with a man you can't stand? Oy. :)
