Gotta love a gov't that doesn't give a living sh%t about the people. Sure start a construction project. Run it day and night. Smart move.

You don't have to look very far for your share of s#*t politicians/governments/corporations. Look at what is happening to the vast majority of Americans, the poor and middle class. It really is a sad state of affairs.

A five day traffic jam?! Most people I know lose their cool after five minutes. I wonder if they'll find anyone beaten to death using their own car horn by the end of this?
10:59 PM on 08/24/2010
These are truck drivers getting paid no matter what. It is like a company paid vacation for them.

Yeah. That'd be my idea of a vacation. Sitting in a cramped cab, breathing in diesel fumes, urinating and defecating wherever you can, no shower, etc, etc, etc...How do I make a reservation?

REALLY?
A VACATION?
Get real
09:36 PM on 08/24/2010
Almost all of these are trucks that can not get off regular ramps by laws. They can not ditch their trucks and walk away. They will get paid no matter what. To many of these truck drivers running non-stop for most of the year making ends meet, this is like heaven-sent vacation. So they don't really feel as frustrated as you migh think.

Also, the jam is over 10 days, but the traffic is moving (well sort of) so most likely each truck driver has to endure 2 or 3 days in the jam itself.

This is confusing to me....is there no place for cars to get off the highway? I mean at some point people have to move enough to get enough people off no?
09:46 PM on 08/24/2010
Trucks can not get off regular ramps by law. Just like in US, many of the roads are restricted to trucks. This is especially true when it is close to the Capital. So it is actually better off for the truckers to endure the jam instead of finding another law acceptable route.

These truckers are working for companies. They are on the road no matter where. But as far as they are concern, the expense is reimbursable and their monthly pay is not at risk. Take a break and play som cards with your driver buddies.

Traffic jam turned Humanitarian effort.

It is actually call a mini economic-zone. Local folks actually made a buck selling overpriced water and instant noodles for the truck drivers.

China, where a traffic jam turns into a Humanitarian effort.

I think we should be more like China.

A humanitarian effort? The villagers are nothing but profiteers. We had people doing the same thing after Hurricane Wilma here in Miami and they were arrested and prosecuted.

It is more like Urbanization. There are close to 20 millions people living in Beijing and its adjacent "sattellite cities" and they consume huge amount of resources. Most of the resources are brought in by these truckers.

What happened when they run out of gas? Turning a vehicle off and on, then moving a half mile a day will deplete your gas tank rather quickly.

I was wondering the exact same thing. Are any of the villagers out there selling gas or something? I wonder how many stranded vehicles there are, and if that's making it worse.
