We ought not be in the business of regulating morality. If that would be the case all POLITICANS and relgious leaders would be locked-up and some ATTORNEYS!

In fact, things are at the point where if a Republican comes out against some form of immorality, it is almost certain that they indulge in that form of immorality, which is why they are so familiar with it.

Is that like dims claiming to be for the working folks, and leaving them unemployed while bailing out the banks, Wall Street and huge corporations?

So tell me, which is really the bigger moral sin? Claiming to be a good husband and having an affair or claiming to be for the little folks and scr. ewing them as their elected representative?

Leave the pro's alone damnit. Arrest the Johns if you want to do something however I believe that wasting funds on entrapment for pros and recreational chem uses is sensless and counterproiductive. I am responsible for me, not the government. Dealers (go after suppliers) Pros (go after Johns) ..

If prostitution were legal the Johns would mostly be eliminated. However, given the current situation, yes, they should go after the johns.

Banning prostitution and drug just creates an unnecessary crime activity. These commodities will be controlled by mafia crime rings as long as we keep on electing religious extremists to some of our government posts.

Seems like a win-win situation.

The USA insists on the persecution of basic human desires, s e x and drugs, which are both well established culturally and impossible to eradicate or police.

Despite the benefits of regulation and taxation, antediluvian policies of criminalization are perpetuated by an antediluvian mindset which rests in a population made mentally flaccid by superstition and a sla v ish adherence to the fables of Bronze Age savages.

The Dark Ages? We are still soaking in them and being held back by their advocates.

This little black bar of censorship gets front page coverage and will do nothing to stop what is happening. Yet, I don't see too many in our government complaining about all the thousands of American de@ths and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi de@ths and trillions of dollars wasted on a w@r that should have been censored from the start I also don't see ANYONE in our government who want to see those responsible for the w@r being brought to justice. Seems that also has been censored with a little black bar.

I am so tired of the US just being stoopid. I am sick to death of religiosity crapping all over everything it can, like some filthy street dog marking its territory. What consenting adults do with their bodies is no one's business. Besides, the states with the highest church-goers also have the highest porn use, teen-age pregnancies and divorces. Alleluia and praise the hypocrisy.

When is this silly puritanical nation ever going to grow up and simply legalize prostitution? It is evident that keeping it illegal is but a subtle continuation of the religious male's hatred of women (you know, the world, the flesh, and the devil -- the Islamic men are big on this, even worse than the Amish). It is little known that two major Catholic Saints, Augustine and Thomas Aquinas both admitted that given the nature of the male, it would be best to permit prostitution. As Augustine had it "without the prostitutes the world would be convulsed in lust", and Aquinas agrees with him, noting that without prostitutes there would be the "deflowering of virgins and the cultivation of unnatural vices" On the practical side, prostitutes could be inspected for health problems, and carry a health inspection card (helps to avoid AIDS, etc.). These women could be protected rather than tormented and often raped by the virtuous boys in the "vice squad". They could even pay taxes rather than cost taxes. Sadly, given the self-congratulatory "righteousness" of the millions of prudes and boobs in our nation, the legalization of prostitution will likely never take place.

It seems to be conviently forgotten that marriage, a civil ceremony, originally was nothing more than the procurement of a woman or women for the sexual gratification of the man. Oh, and to produce a male heir. Trading sex for the necessities of life prior to the modern era of women in the workplace was and still is the norm in most (backward)places of the world. Love rarely comes into play outside of the western, modern world.

How come prostitution is illegal, but it's legal to pay people to have sex if you make a video and sell it? Just wondering...

Jimtron: How come f-in McDonalds is legal and prostitution isn't? I mean you can sell that poison and not sell your body? Sheesh!

Many women's and human rights organizations are fighting sex trafficking. Yet what are they doing to fight the bottom line cause of some forms of prostitution: poverty and socio-economic disparities. They need to also be fighting Congresses vicious policies.

Did you know that even now the The President's Deficit Commission is gearing up to cut Social Security and veterans' benefits? Imagine cutting SS and veterans' benefits in a recession and with 2 wars that bring back scores of horribly injured vets, including many women! This is not to mention the women at home.

I dated a bi woman 2 years ago whose husband (they were separated) was fighting in Iraq. She was barely making it financially and was escorting on the side and drowning her miseries out in cocktails at me on my job. She was so grateful for her clients and at $200 an hour the money she got with them was excellent. We stopped dating when she decided that she wanted to get back together with her husband after his injury.

vegetablelollipop:

Regarding McDonald's: I don't think harmful products (fast food, cigarettes, illegal drugs) should be illegal, but they should be regulated (like health warnings on cigarettes for example). Everyone should have the freedom to do whatever they want to their own bodies, but they must have accurate information about what's being sold (pharmaceuticals, tobacco, fast food). And consenting adults should have the right to do whatever they want (as long as there are no non-consenting people involved).

Sex trafficking is horrific and should be stopped. Same with the virtual slavery of some migrant workers (fruit pickers, meat packers, garment workers, etc).

I don't know what the relevance of cutting SS and vet benefits, but I agree that shouldn't be happening.

We have 10% unemployment. Why not legalize and regulate prostitution? We must fight the exploitation of all workers--sex workers and non-sex workers alike. But if two consenting adults want to trade money for sex, why not? Probably for the same reason pot is illegal.
