I'd vote for Christina Hendricks, she has the comic book heroine physique, and she was awesome playing an Android in that music video. She certainly has the chutzpah.

She's too big to play Wonder Woman.

Hmmmm. What is your definition of "too big"? Beauty as anorexic? Maybe 90 lb that looks childlike? She looked great in latex space outfit.

The operative word is "amazon" which sorta defines "big", at least tall and muscular. The comic book styling has the valkyrie kind of look, which she sort of epitomizes to my mind.

One thing to bear in mind for casting is that Wonder Woman is a powerful physical presence. DC typically lists her height as 6' 2" or 6' 3" in most sources, putting her eye level with Superman and a few inches taller than Batman. And she's not rail-thin, either. She has real muscles, although not some dramatic musculature like that of a bodybuilder. Her biceps and triceps are larger in circumference than Batman's, and her thighs and calves are similarly impressive.

With all that in mind, I really can't think of a decent actress who could currently fill that picture. Height can be faked--Hollywood does it all the time--but the muscles are going to have to be real.

Of the names tossed around over the last year or two, I guess Jessica Biel would come the closest, but she'd have to do some weight training to sculpt her muscles. Lucy Lawless from Xena comes VERY close to what Wonder Woman should look like, but I want her in a Xena movie, not a WW movie! Christina Hendricks would fill out the breastplate nicely, but her muscle tone is too soft. She's beautiful, but not as Wonder Woman. Casting an unknown would probably be the smartest call of them all.

There's Nadia Bjorlin, whose own case for the part is her own physique being more Amazonian than the average starlet's: http://www.thisisworld.com/images/celebs/nadia-bjorlin-too-hot2.jpg

May I suggest Julia Benson, from Stargate Universe? I would LOVE to see her in the outfit, and she's already a fan favorite.

Jessica Biel would be good I think. Olivia Wilde is soooooooooo gorgeous, but she doesn't have enough of a body to do the action-y part plausibly.

Sarah Lancaster--the sister on Chuck. She looks sort of like a young Linda Carter. Or looks like Linda Carter when she was young. Whatever.

I just hope that whatever show comes forth does NOT like Smallville and the ill-fated Birds of Prey tv shows, and the X-Men movies put her into a ridiculous black leather outfit and have her NOT wear her iconic red, gold & star spangled outfit. If Linda Carter could make it work all the way back in the 1970's then an update of the costume with better fabrics can definitely be done.

Megan Fox has the perfect look for Wonder Woman. Unfortunately, Fox probably wouldn't do TV, and she has said she isn't interested in playing Wonder Woman. (And Megan Fox is actually a comic book fan.)

Um, Ally McBeal most certainly *was* a sexist caricature.

Anybody who thinks that an anorexic lawyer who acts like an unprofessional, bubbleheaded ditz 24/7 and cries in court at the drop of a hat isn't sexist...may be living in the 1950's.

A) she didn't behave as such 24/7 and was presented as a relatively solid lawyer. B) She was far from the only woman on the show, and as such was under no obligation to represent all women everywhere.

The best person for Wonder Woman is someone unknown, or at least not well enough known that anyone commenting at HuffPo would ever think of her.

There are plenty of good actresses out there. It's important that she be a good actress and look the part. I'd never heard of Tom Welling before Smallville but I can't imagine a better Clark Kent. I hope the producers take the same route for Wonder Woman.

If Spartus gets cancelled, get Lucy Lawless. She was great as WW in Justice League, New Frontier. Or have Kerri Russell, who played her in the animated WW movie.

Even Lucy Lawless herself has said she is 1.) Too old for the part, and 2.) The role would be too close to her role as Xena the Warrior Princess.

You obviously haven't seen the bootie-thong that DC comics has been making her wear for a number of years now.
