Would be one of those "Up to the Individual State" laws or Federal Law because its for a Federal Government position?

To avoid multi cross legal actions...... VOTE McADAMS !

Not yet -- the Alaska Supreme Court has given the D and R Party until 3p Alaska Time to submit their papers. In reading Alaska's law, it would be a shock if the court were to go with Murkowski/Division of Election's electioneering at the polls. Unless Murkowski has purchased the Supreme Court too.

"Conservative" is not a political party, genius.
09:42 PM on 10/28/2010
It's kind of funny how conservative activist judges essentially just ruled that "write in" means the same thing as "on the ballot".

If the votes are split between Murkowski and Miller, McAdams' chance of winning actually improves. I say, "F YEAH!"
04:11 PM on 10/28/2010
We need Miller to have a significant percentage. If too many 'pubs leave for Murky, she could win. Hope, cross fingers and pray for Scott McAdams.

How about finding a Lisa Murkawski and a Lisa Markowski (or - you get the idea) and declaring them write-ins? Would seem quite legal to me, at least in Alaska.
04:26 PM on 10/28/2010
Actually, that's well within the law to allow misspellings, as long as the intent is clear.

I don't get this because doesn't this defeat the purpose of having write-in candidates. This sounds like people trying to help the Murkowski campaign. It seems fishy.

I'm inclined to think that it isn't the Division of Elections' job to carry water for either of the two major parties, and I'm perfectly happy with the Alaska Supreme Court's decision to allow certified candidate's names to be made available WITHOUT PARTY AFFILIATION.

This doesn't mean, of course, that there won't be a hail-storm of post-election challenges to the process, but I think it's time the D's and R's realized THEY DON'T OWN the election process or the electorate.

Murkowski is a perfect example of old establishment GOP arrogance. It's RINOs like her that spurred the Tea Party. She should have switched parties. She would have won the RINO vote and the Democrat vote.

If she does win, she'll spend all her time fighting her own party for support.

Not really, the GOP doesn't like the baggers...they know they could have made much greater election gains without them, the day after the election...they will be told s hut your sto opid mouth and sit down.

It's the other way around. Independents abandoned the GOP in 2008. The only reason they cam back and will help put Republicans in power is due to the Tea Party's demands for fiscally responsible government and lower taxes.

You'll never shut the Tea Party up. Only a fool would try.

GOP needs to dump the tparty and return to the republican party that had common sense.
05:41 PM on 10/28/2010
They will really have to go back to 1956.
01:21 AM on 10/29/2010
The tea party is not republican. The GOP heads hate it and are scared to death of it. It is a protest movement against the status quo. They just don't vote for democrats.

Can someone please help me out.

Am I accurate that Alaska has a very lenient requirement for vote acceptance of a write-in candidate.

Something on the order of "The intent of the voter."

If so why is it necessary for a listing of the candidate's names?
