Well, it's not the president's job to tell investors that the notion that he is anti-business is devoid of sense.

People like Mohamed El-Erian do that.

Obama has repeatedly turned his back on the progressive tidal wave that swept him into office. He hasn't signed a single bill that favored citizens over corporations, or balanced Main St's needs with Wall St — Wall St gets what they want 100% of the time, even at citizen's expense.

Obama hasn't pushed for a single initiative to level the playing field, and the Republicans with their pro-corporate agenda now want to take that even further.

American politics has become a "good cop/bad cop" charade. No matter which party, it's all for the benefit of The Corporations.

He said he realizes he needs to make clear to the business community, and the country, that the most important thing the administration can do is to boost and encourage the business sector and make sure businesses can hire.

He said setting the right tone publicly is important and could make a difference in how businesses decide to spend their money. The president said that setting that tone is one of the things he didn't manage as well as he needed to."

Mr. President,

Here is the problem. While perception is reality. Stop trying to send the message, stop trying to work the message better. It's not about tone, or people understanding you. The United States is one of the Best Countries in the world. Action is needed and stop worrying about people "Not getting it". That is egotistical and arrogant. Everyone that doesn't agree with you or see the way you do is not uneducated, enemies or ignorant.

People won't measure you on your tone, message or whatever you think. It's about results. That is the only tangible thing.

I think because you have never had a real job, had to turn a profit, manage something that you are confusing running the US with the role of community organizer. Complain, give speeches and get money from the govt. Never graded on results, because it isn't tangible.

Obama simply got it wrong! He needs to cease with the "audacity of hope" and surrender to "wild abandon" or as it is defined "unrestrained freedom of action." The republicans have managed to rake him over the coals because he failed to challenge their ideas. He failed to manifest his his principles into action and instead hoped that the other side would see the light. When the Republicans and blue dogs refused universal healthcare he should of sent it back and said "No! It will not do." When it came time to protect consumers and force the separation of banks and Wall Street he should have said "No! It will not do." When business accused him of being of "villifying" them he should have outlined the ways they accomplished that all on their own. He should have reminded them that the American people have spent hard earned money to save them and demanded what were they willing to do in return? Even if the answer to all of these scenarios would have been no after no at least voters would have known it wasn't because he capitulated and compromised. Ironically one hopes that the one thing he may have learned from the election is to take the gloves off and stop hoping the GOP, Blue dogs, corporations and the tea party will have a come to Jesus moment.

His problem is that he needs to start talking like a Democrat. He should have come out of the gate on day 1 as FDR and the values that would have been recognized and embraced instead of the heady Lincoln stuff. Wall street isn't American business, it's too much the interests of foreign voices...thus Faux-Patriots are mislead into following. He's trying to sell 1/2 step solutions to people that can't even recognize the problems and want to bring him down at any cost. Tone is the least of his problems. Film at eleven.....

You cannot compromise when the mottois my way or the highway.....Compromise....where did it get us....watered down bills. attacks every day about being weak, and now more compromise, like what? You already played your hand......I will work together, and meet with you.....you did that remember? got nowhere then, will get nowhere today. Guess from me. YOU ARE PLAYING INTO REPUBLICAN HANDS.......you are selling the farm....give it away the 2% gets more, banks get more, wall street gets more, business gets more, and this little piggy,me.... gets to go home empty handed......that is main street.

What was lost in all the political bullchit was once again-we the people. The Koch brothers, and others like them, just BOUGHT the House of Representatives. It wasn't a sneak attack, we ALL just watched it happen.
To repay the kindness the GOP will once again REPEAL every measure put in place to protect Americans, their health, wealth and environment. The entire world also witnessed the dumbing down of America.

"Smaller government" is a Republican euphemism for destroying Social Security, Medicare and any other entitlement program, de-funding NPR and serving Big Bird on a platter for Thanksgiving.

All while funneling any kind of subsidy possible to big business. That's the Republican way.

WTF?
They are printing trillions more for the banks as we speak.
The private health insurance industry is about to get TRILLIONS - mandated.
No bid contracts still exist.

You know what...

The headline should be:
"Obama pledges to brown nose even more old white guy's rear ends"
Change his tone on business? What tone? The selling out of the American people to the health insurance companies? The continued privatization of the never ending war with Eastasia, or maybe Eurasia, this week. Sorry to George if I spelled those names wrong.
I'm stunned by how Dems can continue to voice support for this man who sold us down the river. He should go and take Harry Reid with him.
It is a shame that Nancy Pelosi lost her Speakership role when she PASSED tons of historic legislation that neither Harry or Obama would go to the mat for. I would love to be a fly on her wall today.
Go ahead and suck some more Goldman Sacks crack Mr. President. You are only going to finally push the Green and Libertarian vote above the 5% mark nationally.

Not supporting business? How about supporting PEOPLE! Go ahead and reduce regulations, that'll help. Time to get real. Businesses (I'm talking big business, not little guys like me) will move jobs out as quickly as they can, as they have shown over and over. Businesses will only hire if they believe that by adding staff, it'll add to profitability, period. you want to help businesses, increase demand for products. There's plenty of pent up demand out there, just no money to satisfy it. If they would have put together a real mortgage program that slashed the principle and interest on underwater mortgages, it would have put a lot of money in people's pockets and rebalanced property values. But no, we gave money to the banks instead and hoped that they would lend it out. Now all we have is a giant backlog of REOs out there. Bottom line: You want to help business, help people.

Agreed.

Lack of regulations, at least environmental regulations, results in this:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/11/06/60minutes/main4579229.shtml

and

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/10/world/asia/10pollute.html

Lack of bank regulations caused a LOT of the current problems.

Jobs being offshored, wages stagnating or dropping, comprises most of the remaining issues.

http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2010/01/vicious-cycle-stagnant-wages

We saw the "party of 'no'" in action over the last 2 years.

Bush started the bank bailouts, but Obama did bail out the car companies, and GM continues their happy tradition of offshoring jobs. That won't help homeowners and other people needing income to survive or more...

We are not a trickle-down economy. There's so much overwhelming proof but they refuse to see it, refuse to believe it, or are deliberately helping a small handful of not-philanthropic people while the rest of us get crushed under skyrocketing prices (food, entertainment, EDUCATION SO WE CAN REMAIN "EMPLOYABLE" AND "COMPETITIVE", and the rest. Sorry for yelling but so much is screwed up... I will always vote Democrat (or at least pro-America, which these days still means 99% Democratic if not 100%), but if I disagree with something I'm going to criticize it. Supporting big biz and blaming all of us is not right. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/28/obama-foreclosure-program-_n_775553.html )

We've been dumbed-down so much that most speak in terms of business creating jobs, and the driver of the economy (trickle upon) instead of reflexively recognizing demand is the real driver. Demand as the result of good middle-class wages. Not by increasing income disparity through tricks-and-traps.
Trick-down was always a myth, but more so when the ore being mined from our pockets go overseas and fortify our competitors (or worse). Business fills demand! Chicago School of Economics has wrecked havoc internationally for years... and now these chicken-hawks come home to roost. Sock-puppets have the hand of the free market up their... (You know). Now it looks like he's bending over more to get that hand in to its elbow. I don't need to see the film at eleven.....
