Well I guess that just means he will have even more money to leave to charity, but that letter did sound like a bit of snark. Obama should ask him for advice sometimes.

Buffett owned GS shares for years. Now with his preferred shares he is raking in huge profits from Goldman Sachs (government provided) survival.
Back in 1991 he was on the hook as a director and shareholder of Salomon brothers when they were "making their own T Bill market spread"
Good for Buffett, he has worked extremely hard and made great business decisions most of his life. The only thing that upsets me is that lately he has been betting on a fixed game. The Fix is in for some, but others have to lose.

I am so glad the responses are negative. That Buffet guy seems to be worshipped everywhere he goes just because he has a pocketful of card tricks that allow him to consistently make money buying and selling ownership of companies. IMHO, this is the definition of a leech. Sucking money off the people that actually produce. Then, when a bunch of banks he is heavily invested in go belly up from stupidity and it seems the "oracle" is screwed....our tax money is handed over to make sure he doesn't lose a dime of his vast fortune. Does the worship of this fool stop with us giving him all our money? Nope....give him a stinkin medal.

Do you really know anything about Buffett?  From this post I can only conclude likely not.  Using a value approach to investment isn't a pocketful of tricks; you can do it too, tho you might not be as good at it.  Buffett started with relatively little money, which he obtained from investors in a partnership established by him, and intially used the well-known methods of Benjamin Graham and then refined them, to amass over the years a fortune.  What's rigged about that?  Read the massive bio of him, The Snowball, then think about it.

Buffet is merely thanking big mommy government for a bailout of corrupt and poorly run financial firms who bribed both major political parties.

I own stocks and appreciate Mr. Buffet’s approach to value investing. However, his Op-Ed in the NYT is something else. He describes the bailout too optimistically, ignores its downside, and omits his own interest in the actions.

People in the financial media and guys lke Buffet make me wanna vomit. They say we are in a recovery, BUT it's too slow to bring down the unemployment rate. BS! Until people get jobs, you are still in a mess.

What an incestuous shocker. Mr. Wall St. (who now owns now a big ol' chunk of Goldman Sachs) wet kisses with tongue the guy who gave all our money to ... Wall St. with no bona fide regulation - or much of anything - demanded of these crooks in return.

In the early days of the 2008 election campaign, John McCain had a small lead in the polls over Barack Obama. One afternoon, the business channels reported that Mr. Buffet had suddenly, without warning, given a "sell order" on all stocks. That afternoon, and over the next few days, the stock market plummeted, costing average Americans and their pensions funds money that they have never recovered. But, over that same period of days, President Obama took the lead in the polls and never relinquished it. Last year, Mr. Buffet apologized to his staff for his ill-advised move, which also cost them money, since they held stock in his company, which also lost money. Their money (and his) has been regained.. He has, to date, declined to apologize to the rest of us who lost our shirts because of -- at least in part -- his precipitous, politically motivated action. Would the market have fallen without his dramatic gesture, which even he admits was unwise? Surely. But, would it have done so in such a fashion as to destroy investment funds and ruin futures? Certainly not. But, the bottom line is that he did his candidate for President (I am a Democrat, by the way) a huge favor, and this is the real reason for which he will be honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. It has been bought and paid for at least a couple of times!

It is refreshing for me to read the admission of the events precipitating the election with candor by a Democrat. I haven't encountered many, especially on this site who will admit the truth. Thank you Kenhamlett.

It makes me sick when I read about these Wall St. guys who manipulated the system, caused a world wide crisis and still pocket millions while the rest of us have lost almost everything. I don't know how they can look at themselves in the mirror or sleep at night.

As far as I'm concerned, regardless of political affiliation, each one of them is a sociopath.

It is refreshing for me to read a candid admission of the events precipitating the election by a Democrat. Not many, especially on the site, live in the real world or just want to ignore facts. Thank you Kenhamlett.

Isn't it revolting how these Wall St. elites, who manipulated the system causing a near world wide catastrophe are still pocketing hundreds of millions? How can they live with themselves or look in the mirror or sleep at night knowing the misery they caused? They are all a bunch of sociop@ths.
