A lot of the farmers who were plaintiffs have since passed away. These were folks who tried to play by the rules, but they never got the "hand up" that a lot of white farmers did.

Amen!! At long last... Too late for some folks, but it will help others.

We should keep an eye on this, to see if it gets held up at some later step in the process.

This is a scam repeating itself from years ago. Progressives ternd to be teens to twenty nothing so they wouldnt remember the last time this went around.

Black "farmers" living in the inner cities made claims that they were discriminated against when applying for govt money for farmers. The govt never made them prove they ever had a farm in the first place and just passed the cash out. Anyone who attempted to expose the obvious fraud was labeled "racist". I wonder how many inner city farmers will be getting checks this time.

The Montana Indian case is also suspect. I stayed out in that area for about 2 years. Many of the "indians" werent so indian but had managed to claim membership in several tribes. They collected res benefits while lying about their adresses as they didnt live on the res. Montana had "indians" all the way out to Great Falls claiming to live nearer to Dodson on the highline. My tribe is Eastern and we dont have a res, I found myself feeling very proud of this fact upon meeting the "indians" in Montana. Illegal aliens from centarl and south America along with whites managed to claim the ethnic identity and label anyone who questioned them as "racist".

What would br a long time coming would be real oversight this time around. I say make them prove that they own or owned a farm and check their utilities to see if the adresses match.

typical claims made from those who have little understanding. the claims have been backlogged for years, mainly from the various quadrants of the west and black farmers from the southeast.

i know that in 2 years i would pick up the various intricacies of a society that has been here for thousands of years. i am shocked that this was picked up in montana. they don't have a dog in the fight.....oh wait. yeah, you're screwed.

I know a little something about both groups. I also know a little bit about class action suits. This is not a scam, though people try to fraudulently insert themselves into these suits all the time. But "Fakers" would tend to "dilute" the amount that legitimate claimants would get, so you better believe that the administrators and the beneficiaries are going to be extremely careful about who ends up sharing in the fund.

Truth happens to individuals not crowds

nobody seems to making many waves about it, but 26 years of fighting has a finish lie...

...I remember when Obama told the tribe conference at the WH last November that he would take care of lawsuit funds, and the comments from the crowd were like, yeah that's nice to hear and such, maybe, "he's our best shot", but don't hold your breath....

Reported this Monday:

"Obama set to hold second Native American conference
The president will host leaders from the nation's 565 federally recognized tribes at the White House Dec. 16

AP - President Barack Obama will play host to Native American leaders at a White House conference on Dec. 16.

The president has invited the leaders of each of the 565 federally recognized tribes to the event, the White House announced Monday. It would be Obama's second conference with American Indians. Obama first met with tribal leaders last November.

The president says he wants tribal leaders to be able to interact with him and with top administration officials.

Last year's event drew leaders from 386 tribal nations and was the first meeting of its kind in 15 years.
