oh how soon we forget.........
Vick did some time , but in my opinion not enough!!!

Michael Vick initially denied over and over again having anything to do with the dog fighting ring he and his other friends operated UNTIL he was presented with the VIDEO evidence!
That's right he and his other sadistic buddies took animal cruelty to a new level by video taping himself and others torturing and murdering those defenseless dogs! And lets not forget the rape stands they built for those poor female dogs too! Yep that's right, rape stands and its horrible contents were on the video as well. Most Americans never got to see any part of that video.

I'm sick and tired of hearing the word redemption when it comes to Vick! I"ll bet if those dead and tortured to death poor dogs if they could speak for themselves wouldn't use Vick and redemption in the same sentence!

This whole thing was and never will be about time served or redemption. And certainly NOT justice for those poor dogs! It's all about contracts, and money to be made by and for the NFL ,and filling stadium seats!

It's such a disgusting display of mixed distorted sick messages we heap upon impressionable children in our society who are not privy to the full story . And to think there are parents out there encouraging their kids into giving this guy hero worship he doesn't deserve!
Hero worship for an animal abuser/murder!

couldn't have said it better myself

@jate5: you said it all and perfectly!

Slamming dogs into walls to kill them ... electrocuting them to death ... forcing sex on them ... not to mention the countless bait dogs used that had their teeth filed down or pulled out (not by a vet, mind you) so they could not defend themselves ... slitting dog's throats and leaving them to die ... the list goes on. Now, Vick does 18 mos for YEARS of these horrific acts of animal cruelty and some say "time served ... move on" ... not in my book! And if it had been their dogs that had had these things done to them, or if they truly cared about animal well being, they wouldn't think time had been served either!

I love how everybody on here says, "everybody deserves a second chance". Yet, if an employer receives an application in which the applicant checks "yes" on the box that asks if they have been convicted of a felony, they throw said application in the trash immediately. There are no second chances for normal citizens, and Michael Vick definitely does not deserve one. He is a piece of trash.

He did his time. I hate what he did but he should be able to move on with his life. He did more time than others who have committed the same crime. If you hate him so much why add to his popularity by posting to stories about him. He did his time. The End. Move on.

How quickly we all forget. (USDA) report on Vick's dogfighting activities revealed that he
enjoyed!! placing family pets in the ring with fighting pit bulls and that he laughed as dogs ripped each other apart. And many more gruesome details involving abuse, torture and execution of the dogs, Michael Vick pleaded guilty to his charges and went to jail.!!!
~Today, Obama/Supporting a huge star like Vick could help with the president's recent image problems. http://tinyurl.com/2e7cs9f
REALLY! until today I was in full support of Obama, now I am hopping on the fence.
Bad move! really a bad move.
There are so many many other folks who have really experienced REDEMPTION! and need to be thanked for their work. I really feel Vick is not one of them.
One cannot do that to a living and feeling creature. It is a form of a psychopath.( The FBI’s investigation into the childhood of serial killers, and their discovery of juvenile animal abuse in most of these cases — whether educators, mental health professionals, police, prosecutors, domestic violence advocates, child protection workers, or animal control officers — most know that serials killers started their grisly careers by torturing and killing animals.) http://tinyurl.com/2a3ocnd
Curious if we just switched what Vick did to dogs to humans, the extreme violence, torture and sickness would he be still given this second/third/ and forth chance... and be made into an Iconic superstar!
10:51 AM on 12/28/2010
@Lisa Rasmussen Bravo! So well said! And let's not forget that he actually admitted that while he was doing the torture and dog-fighting he honestly didn't know he was doing anything wrong. Now, if that doesn't just scream sociopath, I don't know what does.
03:29 AM on 12/29/2010
Well said.

What bothers me is that Vick is actually talking to innocent children about how to treat animals. What is wrong with the people in charge (courts, authorities) to permit Vick -- who is someone who has "proved" he is an animal abuser but has NEVER proved he is a defender and champion of animals -- be a role model for children regarding animals? To allow Vick to influence children seems backwards. Too peculiar.

Edward Moore "Ted" Kennedy Serving almost 47 years, Kennedy pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and was given a sentence of two months in jail, suspended; also The presiding judge, James A. Boyle, concluded that some aspects of Kennedy's story of that night were not true, and that negligent driving "appears to have contributed to the death of Mary Jo Kopechne. So people if others have gotten over this get over Michael Vick.

It was very difficult to forgive Mr. Vick on my part. For I am a devoted (almost obsessive compulsive loving) Jack Russell/dog owner of 8 years. And shamfully say, I would take a baseball bat to someone(s) head if they ever brought harm upon him. A "zero tolerance" society is a very slippery slope when it evolves outward in that society. Please be carefull what you are wishing for. These were animals that were bread to fight and kill for sport. Not the family pet/Rover. Albeit cruel, it is a sport that is as old as societal civilizations. His crime with me, is more against the civilized humans we should have have become by now. And if you are a student or fan of social cyclicality. This and other violent forms entertainment in our society. Is a testament to how a great societies revert back to the ways of their infancy usually before collapse/reset. That is why the violence is escalating in our entertainment. Almost gladiatorial!

Are you serious??? Animals bread for fighting and not the family pet? Then explain how countless of these animals, after rescued and brought back into society end up loving and making wonderful family pets? And many, many, many do! I, personally, rescued a bait dog and she lay in my arms, nestled her head against me and let me rock her to sleep. She was so bad off that the whole side of her face was filled with maggots. You think that an animal forded into slavery to fight for its life still has no ability to love when shown love? I wish your dog could talk because I bet he'd tell you a thing or two. You are truly ignorant on the amount of love these animals have to give. Please, get educated on the facts before you spout off about how they're basically throw away lives because they're used for fighting. You do not know what you are talking about and I bet your pet dog would bite you if he knew you had forgiven Vick.
01:22 PM on 12/29/2010
I agree with this. The "was bred for this argument" does not hold water. Animals bred for food, fighting or whatever are no different. They are still living, feeling animals...no different from "pets" in terms of how they feel and their sensitivity. Breeding for a specific purpose does NOT make any exploitation OK.

You have SO much learning to do. Those animals are not BRED to fight, they are a strong breed of dog, that is all. Read a book called "Michael Vicks's Dogs" and you'll learn that many of his dogs are now rehabilitated from their lives of torture and are now family pets, living with children. It's sick how people talk about this being a "tradition" or that just because it's happened for thousands of years that somehow justifies it. People stoned women to death, too, for thousands of years, does that make it at all right? Pitt Bulls are very strong dogs, but no more "violent" that Chihuahuas and that is a fact.

If ya cant have at least a ONE shot at redemption and the proverbial second chance. After paying your civil and criminal debts to society or victims. Then what is the purpose of it all then?
This story gives every convicted felon out there hope!...if they want it...self included.
