I hope she makes it to freedom. Any country would be insane to give her back to the UAE.

You obviously don't know anything about the UAE.Try travelling outside of the county you were born in and learn a little about the world.

So much speculation here. I don't know all her story, nor may I ever. I will not judge.

And are there laws in place in Dubai that take into account the father's contribution to the event? Apparently not.

A very sad story, and a deplorable state of affairs in which women are stigmatized -- or even executed -- for events over which they may have no control. Stories like this remind us of the need to keep the pressure on all countries for the establishment and maintenance of individual rights and just laws.

I agree if by pressure you mean leading by example. It's wrong for any collective of people religious or political to demand control over someone else's body.

Was she trying to leave the country before giving birth?

If she is unknown, why assume that she was unmarried?

It would be nice if women were taken care of during pregnancy and childbirth, but that seems to be too much to ask.

the way prostutution is going on in dubais diera hotels where the local and foriegners cme on regualuer basis and keep this industy booming this type of incidents is very much expected. Dxb has established industry of prostitution, saw so many sex workers in dubais diera cheap discos, talked to one of the bouncers who told me that these cme women from all over world mostly from Russia, turkey, ethopia, india, pakistan, uzbekstan, etc on 3 months contract visa just to work as sex workers. Its a shame to see such things going in a Muslim Country. These are merely the consequences of the sick things going on in Dubai. I am sure without the approval of Dubais sheikh such thing cnt happen. being muslim leaders they should stop this in theri country

May have been one of those Muslim "honor killings" that we keep hearing about. I wonder what the Abu Dhabi Government plans a second "honor killing" if they catch her?
11:08 PM on 12/27/2010
What honor killing? She killed her own child!
Ethiopia is not a Muslim country, why are you assuming she is a Muslim? Even the UAE is a muslim country (most of the citizens are Muslims) it has more non-Muslim inhabitants than Muslim inhabitants.

Not a problem. Remember Dubai has such great law enforcement that the previous administration thought that Dubai should control US ports.

One saving grace is that 'Prince' Eric and his group of US taxpayer funded XE corporation troops are there.
Not even slightly humorous. Is it?

This is horrifying and sad, so I hate to make such a shallow comment, but here goes:
If all they've got is security cam footage of a dark skinned woman in a burqa, and no name, she's free as a bird as soon as she lands.
Off with the burqa and she's just like everyone else.
05:09 PM on 12/27/2010
Why would she be in a burqa? Where does it say she was in a burqa? If she was in a burqa how do they know her race?

Hands? But you're correct, there wasn't any mention of her wearing a burqa. However, I think you missed his point.
