The Republican Party is the Titanic, and Palin is the iceberg.

"Sarah Palin has done more for the Republican party than anyone since Reagan." That, in a nut shell (no pun intended) sums up the state of the dysfunctional Republican party!

DiMint is the dixecrat GOP result of the "Southern Strategy".
12:34 AM on 12/30/2010
Yeah, she's hurt the Republican party more than anyone since 2008.

DeMint loves to be in the press. He lucked into his second term due to inept South Carolina voters and their inability or laziness to read a voting ballot; and the ability of registered Republicans being allowed to vote in the Democratic primary. His way of getting attention is by spewing questionable statements. He is hardly a Republican heavyweight, and has found his only niche with the T.P. gang.

One major difference thougt. Reagan didn't quit his governorship halfway through his first term to go get more famous and make more money. Reagan was a bad president but he didn't quit his job as governor and think that it would help him get to Whitehouse.

I think DeMint is hedging his bets that he can be her VP choice after the Republican primaries.

Her VP choice? surely you jest lol. Sarah Palin won't be able to make it though the first round of debates lol.

The debates? What a hoot! I would actually tune in for a good laugh.

DeMint is correct in one thing - Reagan used his down-home silver-tongue to fill the GOP and the rest of the country to feel good about ourselves while he systematically torn down the counry with one hair-brained idea after another.

Exactly what did Reagan do besides have a 10.3% unemployment rate and raised the deficit?

Illegally selling arms to Iran to fund Nicaraguan Contras? Controverting the Constitution by first up, violating a law (the Boland Amendment) written by Congress, which forbade doing exactly what Reagan did. Reagan took actions deemed ONLY to be the responsibility of the Congress (to pay the bills) by the Constitution. There's more...

I can see where DeMint was going with his comparison.  Reagan filled the GOP and the rest of the country with alot of his down-home silver-tongued talk that made everybody feel good but Reagan did nothing but tear down the country one silly hair-brained idea after another.  And the first hair-brained idea he had was to give weapons to Iran.

Why anybody still worships Reagan is beyond me.

Regarding that, $arah would then indeed be like Reagan. Considering how she bankrupted Wasilla and abandoned Alaska, she would do nothing good for the country either.

this is wonderful news. he is helping Palin to burnish her tea bagger credentials for her Presidential run. comments like the ones DeMint is making will only help assure Palin's nomination.

no need for debates; those are a sign of intelligence. she will be trashed by other repub candidates; her poll numbers will soar. every time someone says anything negative about her, people will feel sorry for her. GOP party elders will be scared to death of her; she cannot be controlled. the "mean girl" is in town!

I've been wondering who her running mate would be (Glen Beck? Bozo? Bonzo? Tawd?), and now the answer is before us.

it's DeMint.

There is nothing 'Reganesc' about Palin. She is the absolute worst thing that ever happened to the RNC and nothing about her actions or behaviors are 'Christlike'. She seems to like Alaska. I think she should not only keep her over-hyped butt there but also keep her mouth shut!

Quote from the article:

"Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) recently perpetuated comparisons between Sarah Palin and the Gipper, announcing that the former Alaska governor has "done more for the Republican Party than anyone since Ronald Reagan."

Shouldn't DeMint have said "Sarah has done more *TO* the republican party than anyone since Ronald Reagan"?
