So, I guess the next big question is how the Wall Street banks will reward President Obama after he is voted out of office in 2012. Fees for speaking and consulting are standard practice, but he's done so much for them that just doesn't seem like enough!

The cynic in me believes Obama's plan is to stabilize the Financial Oligarchy with huge wealth at the top and a more or less compliant mass beneath and he and his family will take their elevated place in that Oligarchy.

The optimist in me hopes he won’t get away with it.

All the ones from Reagan through Bush II got away with it. What makes you think Obama won't?

The populist candidate the country needs? The best hope of defeating the hand-picked candidates of a plutocracy may be an individual who already possesses an immense personal wealth. That's irony.

Another Abe Lincoln might be a better way to go. Compassion and immense personal wealth are a rather rare mix.

But but but, the app. oligists cry--who else would you hire for the job? Some guy who worked the drive thru window at McDonalds (no kidding, I've gotten that actual thoughtful response before), I mean, we need people on the inside who know how the system works and where the bodies are buried, so to speak, and Obama's playing chess by hiring these men and they will bend to his will.

Yep. I guess that's why Wall Street has recovered from its sniffles, while the rest of the nation still has pneumonia.

Learn how to survive on your own. We must become self reliant. Learn to produce goods+services including manufacturing in America; buy/sell with each other. STOP your addiction to CHEAP products. Refuse to buy it ANY item until major multi nat's stop producing/exploiting in foreign lands. It only serves to build foreign poor into a middle class, leaving Americans to slip into Third World poverty and socialized entitlement... aka dependency programs that drain our scant funds.
Stop buying at Wall Mart + ALL major retailers who's labels are only made in China/Phillipines/Viet Nam/Guatemala/Macau/Hondorus. Multinat's have billions of humans globally living in abject poverty they plan on exploiting for cheap labour for the next century; leaving millns of Americans jobless. Clearly our gov't is a mess +is not creating state-of-the-art industries that will improve our country while serving to re-train Americans into new positions. Ergo, we must become self reliant.
Manufacturing left America in the 80's/90's. We must rethink and remake our society amongst ourselves. Living on Unemployment and Welfare will not yield a single ounce of change. Start looking at each fellow Americans as potential work/trade partners. BUY AMERICAN FROM EACH OTHER. Study Argentina model when workers took over factories and formed collectives. Argentina made a respectable comeback. They also pay off their homes within a few years. Americans can prevail w/o our government which is clearly as corrupt as 3rd world country dictators.

This was the whole idea behind, "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" we need to stop being wage slaves...what kind of "life" is that?
05:19 PM on 01/12/2011
What an idea, not new maybe, but these people you're talking to have trouble just showing up to vote, much less being informed about candidates. They could not do what you suggest if their lives depended on it.

Thank you for keeping the facts in the public eye, I voted for Obama, but there is no way I can vote again for him. I feel the democrats and republicans are playing bad cop/good cop on the American public. How could we not? Between the sciopathic bankers and the predatory corporate ceo's, we have got to do campaign finance reform or a third party.

Atleast in the Enron case, people went to jail, we're still waiting. Time for waiting is over and time for jail is now.

Obama won't be re-elected, it's too obvious he's bought, but then the republicans are not an alternative, either. I mean the best lobbyist's money can buy, our new speaker of the house, republican, John Boehner. He and Mitch McConnell are going to put America back on the right path, rightttttttttt! Lord, our country is in trouble. The criminals are in charge while America is going broke and China is saber rattling, as I said, CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM.

Obama is following the Clinton plan complete with old Clinton A & now B team members , all which have deep ties to Wall st. and couldn't care less what happens to the "little people" Barry says he represents.
04:26 PM on 01/12/2011
It's the Reagan/Bush/Clinton/Bush plan and yes, he's right on track. The plan hasn't changed in 30 years and I see on one on the national stage who's interested in changing it.
01:37 PM on 01/12/2011
WOW -interesting mis-representation of History.

financial meltdown - "the financial mess that Clinton enabled" - is a lie - shown to be so by Paul Krugman no less.

G-S never regulated derivatives or investment banks that started and pushed us into crisis - investments were under the Fed and Greenspan and the GOP were into "no regulations" - depend on market discipline.

So why the smear of Bill Clinton - Obama did this before - in the primary - as a way to smear Hillary. Is Obama afraid of a Hillary in 2012 and has his Obama-bots out to stop it? Or is he just into protecting his fellow GOPer Bush - and folks like Scheer are not smart enough to understand how they are being used?

My money is on Fear of Hillary since Scheer is into total support of the "progressive" (LOL) Obama.

Calm down. You seem to be missing, what, the glass seagal law repeal. That did provide the opportunity to start the actions to melt down.

Hold your enemies close. Obama has taken command of the worlds' largest supertanker and regardless of what he does it will travel a great distance before it can execute a meaningful change in course. And while it is true that we could blow it up an sink it in lieu of trying to salvage it, that would be suicidal. At this stage of the game, only the people who know the system are capable of both driving the boat and teaching others what we need to know over the longer term to create a better steering system.

Face it, we are owned. It's not traditional slavery, there are no chains but the economic ones. Can it be more evident that Wall St.s banks control the Federal government regardless of party in power? Having done as they liked, raided the nations till and laughed about it they are back and unchanged, thier minions in the first circle of the power elite. Perhaps the Libertarians got this one right, we should have let them all fail. It would be worth it if we got the government back on our side.
