Dolphins have more compassion than a lot of humans do.

...no worries...give BP and the others...along with governments (both sides)...time and we'll ALL be able to walk on water...no more fear of drowning...see there's good in everything...

how do we know the dolphins weren't goofin' on the pooch and had it trapped in shallow water for 15 hours? "i'll bet you wanna go home REALLY bad, uh benji?"

Anthropomorphizing dolphins? Want to dress them up in a little hat and jacket?

We are the only animals who are intentionally cruel. It seems we improve that capacity every day.

I like dogs and I like dolphins, but a dog can't swim himself to the bank of a canal?

Most of the canals in FL have vertical concrete or metal walls, or very steep ones.

Oh. I was unaware of that. That puts a whole new spin on the story. Yay dolphins!

Specially the "red" ones. Gentlest dogs I've ever known. Still, I prefer mutts.

Just what makes them so d*** altruistic? I swear, Dolphins make me insecure about my humanhood.

Inside the dolphin brain: what the heck is all this noise? Can we eat it? Nope? Well then let's play with it for a while.

Compassion is one of the higher throught processes and this story hits me in a place of hope. May they survive beyond us for the sake of evolving life on this planet.. .

Maybe we could help save them.from us.

This is what's known as a feel-good story. You know like when you go to FreeRepublic and there's a story about an Escalade running over a homeless guy? Well this is the liberal counterpoint to that.

You are such a compassionate soul! It is satisfying to see neocons revealing their true nature. Sarcastic, mean-spirited, spiteful, and most of all...wait... wait...here it comes....greedy and lost some where in the Wiemar Republic circa 1933.

This is a bit off subject but related. Here's another example of a surprising and profound exchange in the animal kingdom. This is one of my favorites:

If only Americans would treat other Americans with the same concern in a time of distress.

That too, but when I think about how some people in this country have no compassion for those that are less fortunate or are having hard times, it concerns me. Aren't we all Americans? Isn't this the "United" States of America? We have become a me, me, me nation and one with so much hate for one another other. It's a disgrace.
