If its drug money, then only our children-shooting up Heroin in our suburbs will have to pay the price.

It was worth that to the U.S. to keep something from coming out in the course of the investigation and trial. Wouldn't you like to know what it might have been?

Can we now, at long last, stop using cowboy contractors to do what US government employees should be doing?

Has there been any exidence at all that he is CIA? My guess is he is not.

He may have been freed from pakistani justice, but my guess is he is now being debriefed in the US, and that is not exactly free.

Just wondering what his real name is?

Our president put the prestige of his office to claim that his goon killer is a diplomat. Must have a lot of ugly secrets to hide? The people of the world, outside of Pakistan will soon forget Raymond Davis. They won't forget the lies spouted by our maximum leader in the world press. Just like they haven't forgotten the disgraced Colin Powell performance in the UN. All of Davis' fellow goons made a hasty exit, to return home. A few seem to be posting here.

This story if full of incongurences first the US claimed diplomatic immunity, stating that he was a worker at the American Embassy, but he's CIA contractor, since when are CIA contractors eligible for Diplomatic immunity?

Questions remain to what he was doing in that area, what he was doing with a illegal weapon and how exactly can this crime be deserving of "self defense" when the victims were shot several times and another victim was killed when hited by a car on its way out of the crime scene.

Pakistanis accused of crimes in the US must face trial in the US. Why should this be any different? The US government should allow the crimes perpetuated by this man to be carried out on Pakistani court, if they have enough trust on the "blood money" policies of the Pakistani judiciary they should also trust a court to judge him.

An obvious member of a black ops team. He was after 2 men which he killed. He was caught and jailed. Then bought out of jail. What other americans in foreign prisons are bought out?

Anyone who believes Davis is "free" does not understand how the US works.

If America survives the stupidity in Iraq and Afghanistan, it will not be due to common sense and rational thought but that we will be exiting before the US is totally bankrupt which by the way we are.

Pakistan and the U.S. have a lot in common.

They have their kangaroo courts, we have our kangaroo courts.

They have numerous intelligence agencies causing havoc. So do we. They are profiteering big time over having Taliban in their midst. So are we.
Both have governments that think using drones on the population is acceptable. The difference there is we think the ISI are supplying us with useful coordinates, while the Pakistanis simply use it to extort money for (mis) information as well as blood.

I've been to Pakistan once (so I'm certainly no expert) but let me tell you any comparison to the United States is ridiculous.

the initial report said one of the alleged robbers was shot in the back while fleeing. is the "blood money" payoff higher for being shot in the back while fleeing? it seems there is no crime for which members of the military, financial, energy and pharmaceutical complexes can be held accountable for.

Don't forget to add to the calculation the value of being granted immigration status to live in the US, to avoid angry fellow citizens. Whatever they received won't last long in God's country.

This is all so very sad and corrupt. We need absolute transparency to get our government in order and to end the power of the Military Industrial Complex which causes so much suffering around the world. Now Americans are beginning to feel it.

I suppose that if you had a gun in your pocket while withdrawing money from an ATM machine and a couple of visibly armed geeks come at you to rob you, you'd happily hand over your money and invite them to shoot you.

A strange man in a strange land..bet he stuck out pretty badly. Im inclined to believe it was self-defense, considering that he had to have known that any conscious action to engage in unprovoked violence otherwise would lead to political and diplomatic issues. Perhaps thats what the Pakistani government wanted?
