Just curious.. What happens when a parent tests positive for drug use? Do their children starve because the parent has been foolish? Even better, does the drug user also starve? Do we really need more people homeless/helpless because of an addiction?

I really am tired of people being punished for their weaknesses. It's appalling.

Cry me a river.

Maybe their local church can help them out until they clean up.

Ah, another 'compassionate Christian'. Do you folks read the bible or just use it to hit others with?

And how many more people could this program have helped if it wasn't spending all the funding on drug tests?

Read the article. The welfare recipient pays for the test.

Well they like it to be small enough to fit into your personal life.... You have to wonder how much Rick would support this program if his wife did not own the drug testing government. The tax payers are going to be paying for the testing to a company owned by the governor that enacted the law. Does anyone see the conflict of interest????

1. That guy creeps me out.

2. The party of "small government" will spend a squillion dollars to identify the handful of people who are using. Sad.

"Guilty until proven innocent"??

If they "do it everywhere" and my handful turns "into thousands"....relatively speaking, it's still a handful.
06:17 PM on 05/31/2011
Okay, so what happens then? You have thousands of people out on the streets, and everyone feels good because they're not "screwing the system" anymore? How is that a solution? If they keep doing drugs, they'll end up in jail and you'll be paying far more. Whatever is bigger than a squillion.

I'm certainly not advocating drug use among welfare recipients, but it's interesting how Republicans, when they get into office, scramble to start passing law after law restricting this and excluding that... They can't slam the doors fast enough. So they're not REALLY for smaller government. They're just for smaller government they don't agree with.

Liberalism has adopted the edicts of Christianity of love thy neighbor. If they are cold I will give you my coat. However, instead of relying upon the Church to act as the central authority, they have the belief that the government should play this role. Why you ask would they want the role taken away from the Church? It's because most liberals are atheists.

Please cite your info or provide a link for "most liberals are atheists". I am a liberal, and I am a Christian, and I give time and money. Can't speak for all, just myself and the ones in my faith community.

Wow, that was stupid. Looking at it statistically, given the number of self-identifying Christians in the US, and the rough breakdown of democratic and republican voters, what your suggesting is impossible.
