You know the republicans are going to scream bloody murder about this. They listen to their parties talking points that says planned parenthood is only for abortions, they don't realize most women use planned parenthood for medical help and preventative care and checkups that the clinics do not handle. But if they hear a right wing idiot say that planned parenthood is only about abortions, then that is what they will believe.

wow, both at 365 fans. Never seen that happen before. As a resident of a red state I'm only half kidding. I don't want to seem them try to defund, but they will, and there are few other places in redland to meet a bunch of intelligent women who will also make a point of standing up for themselves.

After you defund their access to contraception they do. But that goes for Republican women too - except the 2 or 3 who actually stick to that just say no nonsense.

If we want to win this argument, we need to get the regressive's out of office. Even if it is only a dollar or two, directly fund candidates that support women. Forget the DNC, they only want to fund blue dogs and other dinos.

And yet the DINOS love to capitalize of off the groundwork of grassroots progressives after they shun us for 2 and-a-half years!

So far we've delivered many regressive heads to them on a silver platter only to watch them continuously eat their own at the right's behest---ignoring their more egregious transgressions to settle a petty score with actual allies.

What an idiot box the DNC, DSCC,and the DCCC turned out to be!

The Progressive Caucus should branch out up and away from those losers.

Your Tea Party, and the supposedly main-stream Republican who support their tactics, have been having the equivalent of a toddler's supermarket tantrum for some years now. Like all brats prone to tantrums the last thing they need is to be pandered to. The more anti-social legislation they get, the more they want.
From this side of the pond, your country appears to be on a very slippery slope with a whole section of your lawmakers only having a few issues on which to concentrate. They have strong "beliefs" about abortion and low taxes, the desire to inflict their ideology on others - but no real ideas on the rest of government.
And the unfortunate thing is that we get the same c*ap, or an irritating watered down version of it, sooner or later.
Fortunately we don't do real extremism here, we're far too indolent to get that involved in other peoples' lives. There are a couple of fascistic orgs but nobody takes them that seriously. Ditto the communistic ones.

America is a great country and eventually you'll make it.

So many people - so many votes - so many to persuade.

It was easier in my small country (where, mal apropos,
the rich pay their due without much ado). Good luck
to you all.

......but if your state/city allows you to vote across party lines during primaries----stay registered as a 'red'. Just so the dems don't get too comfortable like they did in regard to us brown folk. ^_~

Gov. Mitch Daniels is like all of the minions of republicorp. he and all of his kind will do what ever they can to limit women to good health coverage. thank the gods U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt placed a preliminary injunction on the ruling. we can only hope that it will not be over turned by the righwing activest judges that now pollute the high court bench
01:53 PM on 06/25/2011
Just waiting for the nutjobs who sued to vacate US District Judge Vaughn Walker's decision about Prop 8 in CA because he was gay, to now file against Judge Pratt's decision because she is a woman. (BTW they lost the Walker suit).

I never looked at it this way before. Just like wars we enter, God creates war throughout the bible, killings in the name of God, etc. What about mass wipe outs of people through plagues and natural disasters? I believe republicans think entire cities should just be allowed to remain destroyed by natural disasters, unless of course they are republican controlled cities, then by all means we must save them. But if it's a democratic state, God must have intended for them to suffer and by no means should our country help them rebuild.

The anti-abortion religious right methods to eradicate abortion are ill conceived, reckless and dangerous. start with education, planned parenthood and ultimately rid ourselves of poverty.

where there's poverty abortions will follow. light years away

It also doesn't help their cause to kill people in churches if they want to keep playing the Chri.st card. They are terrorists and should be treated as such when stalking people and threatening to bomb them....are still the norm in the 'pro-life' movement.

i hope this is the first step of repealing this horrendous law..it seems more and more clear tha the less govt republiccans are much more intertested in the sex lives of the poor women in Indiana...
it seems very creepy that so manny men are invloving themselves in the intimate medical affairs of women...rick perry in Texas, that law is so unconstitutional that it is just insane..jusst curuious why religious viewpoints are being forced upon the women of the US..mostly by men....isin't that what we we fighting the Tailban about....just something to think about

You notice who they targeted apart from Planned Parenthood itself -- the poor. How's that for claiming to have any moral compass. They placed their own ideology over the health and security of poor Americans on Medicaid.

Since its the Christian right who takes the lead on all of this, they should actually heed the words of the one they purport to follow, "whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me".

Thankfully, the courts saw the injustice and unconstitutionality of their efforts.

The irony here is that the Indiana law would do NOTHING to prevent abortions. Abortions aren't funded by the federal government as it is. So abortions are the one service they are not affecting.

Not great minds, these folks...

04:58 PM on 06/25/2011
I mention that my girlfriend uses planned parenthood for health care and preventative care, not abortions. Now I am getting this one jerk telling me that taxpayers shouldn't pay for her medical care. OK, so now we must then shut down all clinics, not help any city that experiences a natural disaster, not feed or provide medical care to anyone that is suffering, stop all unemployment compensation. Then at the same time, we will stop helping with welfare for the wealthy. No more wealthy bankruptcies, like Trump, no more subsidies, no more corporate tax loop holes, no more bush tax cuts for the wealthy, no more low tax rates for the wealthy and corporations, no more government, period. Lets see how the republicans like removing the entire government and the next time someone is robbing their precious homes, we will tell them, get a gun and defend yourself, sorry, the government can no longer help you.
