Sorry but, these aren't real jobs. They are government jobs paid for from government money that don't really exist. If these so called green jobs were actually profitable and had a future industry would be much more involved. They would not have to be given government monies to bribe them.

The price of oil, coal and nuclear are rising while the price of wind and solar are dropping.

Nuclear gave us Fukishima and Chernobyl where those taxpayers will be paying for the clean up FOREVER.

Oil gave us the BP disaster in the Gulf where the fishing industry and marine life continue to suffer.

Coal gave us the Massey coal Mine disaster where lives were lost due to lack of safety.

It is time to transition to safe, clean alternative energy. Wind, solar, wave energy, geothermal, and second generation biofuels made from algae, cellulose and waste are the future. The world produces a lot of trash every day. Let's turn that trash into fuel and energy.

We The People have been fighting against this transition for 40 years.

Eh, coal is about the same as it was 10 years ago, natural gas is a fraction of its cost, nuclear is fairly flat. Where are you getting your data?

Also, solar and wind remain... far more expensive for every MW of installed capacity. You can't close your eyes and hope that they will become cheaper. Hope is not a plan.

Ms. Jackson, we are spending $3T, that Trillion dollars, on wars, Trillions on TARP and the FED bailout of banks, we have many millions of people who are out of work with no prospect of a better job economy, milions of families loosing their homes through bank fraud, and you are touting a $6M short-term jobs program. Does this really sound like a "government by the people and for the people"?

Where are all those green jobs? It has been over two years of talk. Time to put some people to work in an industry that should be booming by now.

Talk only. The US only invests $300 million a year into green energy, to give you some perspective, Australia - with a population less than that of California - is investing $10 billion. Green jobs won't be coming here.

The customers invest zero as long as cheap gasoline is available.
We had millions of green employees in the 70s and early 80s.
They all lost their jobs and their homes when Reagan dropped subsidies.

Sorry, we're too busy spending $500 billion per year on the health problems caused by Coal (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/17/coal-costs-us-study_n_824004.html), and we're spending trillions securing oil instead of green energy (http://costofwar.com/en/). If we spent half the money on green energy that we spend on fossil fuels and the disastrous health problems that they cause, we'd be completely off oil....

so to answer your question: All the green jobs were stolen by the Pro-pollution for Profit Lobby (Big Oil, Natural Gas, Coal and Nuclear).

I was in the green alternative energy business in the 70s and 80s. Everyone was. Even the big oil corporations. They spent billions on alternative energy. They were calling themselves, "Energy Companies." People who bought solar panels were called fools by their neighbors. We were going to be petroleum free by the end of the century. Will it be different this time? Will people choose to buy alternative energy? Or will they complain about the high price of gasoline? "Green" anymore means the same as "Lite' does for the food industry, just an advertising word.
