Too bad elaborate plans weren't made to keep her child safe!
I say set her free into the general population, then maybe she'd talk. Give her enough rope and she'll hang herself with her words.

Biggest error the authorities had while Casey was locked up is that they kept her in protective custody,

Her attorneys wanted it that way. They knew Casey would talk. That, plus the other women might take their frustrations out on her. Regardless of what the media reported, she was not treated 'just like any other criminal'. Maybe for the most part, but there were exceptions.

We will hear about this "thing" (a.k.a Casey Anthony) again after someone seeks out justice for Caylee and wipes this smudge on life out of existence. Then I will smile and be at peace. No maternal feeling mother can go without reporting her daughter missing for 30 days unless they are trying to hide something and then to top it all off, she triest o blame it all on her parents and accuse her father of abuse. That is no mom at all, that is the absolute definition of a MONSTER!! This P.O.S will get no peace anywhere "it" goes, "it" will be villified tirelessly and deservingly so. Guilt will eat this "inhuman thing" alive and that is something that cannot be hidden the trunk of a car!

Who made you judge, jury and executioneer? The fact that you are willing to believe someone did something as horrible as kill their own child, and then justify killing the mother, since a court of law failed to prove the guilt, says something about you, and it isn't good. Maybe one could wish upon you the same fate you gleefully hope Anthony receives, based upon the Court of Public Opinion, that is wrong more than right, but of course you don't see that in your self appointed role of judge.

The prosecution failed, the Jury did their job, no one has to like it, but should be smart enough to understand we don't just execute people because we "feel" they did something. Enough of that happened to innocent people in the past, and they don't get a do over after they are dead, and found innocent.

Nothing matters except you get your "Pound of Flesh" over perceived guilt, on something that you have no invested interest in other than fake outrage. I also think she is guilty of something, the problem is, the prosecution failed to prove she murdered anyone, and am willing to accept the jury's decision since it was their job to decide guilt.

Execution should never have been argued in closing arguments. There were other charges that would never have resulted in her execution. That's what the jury bought because they were ignorant of the lesser charges and the resultant punishment. They just wanted out of the jail they were in for six weeks. They were sequestered so that they wouldn't see anything about the charges, but I don't believe they didn't know anything about the crime. It was all over the media for years. They were chosen because of the social media. A jury consultant admitted that. Should this really be the basis of our justice system?

It must be simply wonderful to be as judgemental as you are, You my friend no NOTHING of the facts, yet you wish horrible things apon a person found Not Guilty by a court of law, according to the constitution. Based on your remarks You are the "Thing", and what you wish for will come back to you times 10.

I just read a New York Times article about the computer searches that were done for cloroform. Apparently the software that was used to extract the data from Casey's computer was incorrect. Once the software glitch was corrected and the data was extracted using the corrected software, it shows only one search for cloroform, not 84 seaches. This was brought to the prosecutions attention on June 30th, yet the state didn't recall the witness forsenic computer experts to correct what they had previously said.
I don't think it would have mattered to this jury anyway since they didn't believe anything the prosecuton said. But it sure does make Cindy Anthony look like a bigger fool when she testified and perjured herself because even the forsenic's were incorrect when they extracted that data.

The defense, however, countered the prosecution with an IT expert who testified to the glitch in the software, so the error was brought to the jury's attention during trial. This was a good example of the defense team's doing its job. There was an IT expert on the jury, and he would have been most likely to credit the defense witness and discredit the witness for the prosecution.

The prosecutors are required by LAW to reveal this information to the defense, which they did not do. Further proof these prosecutors bungles the case, they should not be allowed to practice law anywhere.

I have pretty much stayed away from this whole case. What really bothers me is that the media, like Nancy Grace, took this whole thing way beyond what it should have been. I did watch all those people running for tickets to watch her case too. I had disdain for what I saw. The prosecutors used that media hype too. Casey should have done what was right, and while I don't know if she actually killed her either - she was guilty before she had a trial by everyone. Then people make comments on the facial responses, and media hypes that up as well. I think, without all the hyper media, there may have been a chance to find out what really happened. That poor little girl deserves to have her real story told.

Stand Up, Show Up, Speak Up
07:50 AM on 07/19/2011
I'm grateful for coverage that shows what is going on and that analyzes and explains the fine points of what I'm seeing, but some of it does go too far. Way too far. Especially the speculation and the repitition. Much of it is just selling -- tv is all about selling, far more than it is about informing, which is sad, but capitalism seems to rule everything these days.

As far as facial responses and all of that, I appreciate when experts explain -- but it is as much art as science and should be understood as such. Commentators fail us when they present this a exact evidence, but probably we all watch enough fictional trials to understand that.

It sure strikes me as strange -- all the people who can hang out around public events like this. Do they not have jobs? Family? Better ways to spend their time? I watch things like this on tv because I can do two or three things at once, but can't imagine ever having the time or being willing to spend the time to go to an "event" like this. Although I learn a little bit by watching (sometimes), I have to admit some of the watching is just morbid curiosity.

Sure do agree that the child and her memory deserve better. Teevee seems to bring out the crazy and/or encourage it, even while it informs. Sometimes it's respectful. Not often.

On another thread, you called Rachel Maddow "godless," inferring that she is anti-God because she is a lesbian.

That's a heinous statement to make about another human being, so I find your "their sweet innocent 2 year old" statement nauseating in light of it.
11:46 AM on 07/19/2011
Not a monster but a seriously defective human, with deep problems. Which made her a great danger to her child. Just because some go to one extreme, eg, the lynch mob, doesnt mean one should go to the other extreme in defending her, as if she is just a victim of others misunderstanding. She could have cleared up a lot of the misunderstanding were it not for her constant lies. She lies like she breathes.

I am tired of hearing about her..I do not want to know how she could be making a bunch of money or who wants the first interview with her. And good for her attorneys that they have to hide her out, she will probably enjoy every min. of it. Her daughter is gone, she missed out on enjoying her life, and Casey never had to explain what happened to her. Media just let it go. Stop already talking about her.

I couldn't agree with you more. I for one do my share to make sure children are safe, it may not be in any spectacular fashion, but I do it as often as I can. There are so many small things we could do, you'd be surprised.
We surely don't need to see bruises, or casts on the legs or arms of children before we suspect some sort of abuse.
As an example just last week I was about to go into my local convenience store when I spotted a very young little girl sitting in a running car all by herself. No one around except people going in and out of the store.
I sat there to make sure nothing happened to that little girl. It was nearly 10 minutes later before Mommy came out of the store carrying her morning coffee. I got out of my car and told her that for the last 10 minutes I sat in my car to make sure no one snatched her child out of that car. Of course Mommy Dearest cursed me out, told me I had a lot of nerve doing that and went on about her day.
But don't think for one minute I didn't shake that mother up, rattle her cage, scare her straight. She will never forget me and what I said to her and I will hope that she never does something like that again.

You don't have know the child to want to protect them. It is good to get a little involved. Although I have had people give me dirty looks when my kid was young. She was a good little one, but when she was going through her "tantrum" stage - I would just pick her up and take her out of the store, and put her in the car. I stood by the car reading the newspaper while she had her screaming fit. Now, she was not "locked in" and I had to leave the window open so her screaming was heard by everyone - but I just ignored her tantrum. I got some strange looks, but hey - after a few times doing that, no more extreme tantrums. After getting over that - her next thing was to hide in the store. Would scare the crap out of me, and she thought it fun. I got looks then too cause now I was screaming frantically.

People who don't have kids always think they have the "answer", but I would rather have them concerned in any case, if I knew they would be the ones stopping my kid from being kidnapped or harmed.

03:50 AM on 07/19/2011
the idea that you can give someone the death penalty based on circumstantial evidence alone is completely ridiculous and then you have this story showing that the prosecution had no interest in getting to the truth. they just wanted the conviction with the evidence they had. granted it looks like she did the crime based on the circumstantial evidence, but how many others are prosecutors like these going to falsely convict because they cared more about winning than presenting correct evidence?
