"Armed chauffeurs"? Nobody cares that much, Linda...

Well now she has brought media attention to the fact that her four year old son has a billionaire father, that may bring some unsavory type of people into his life, like kidnappers. She should have handled this privately with the father of the boy.

That is an obscene amount of money. Working class people raise their children just fine with far less. Yes this guy is mega-wealthy and can afford it, but these rich people need to live out here in the real world for a minute. That child support payment is more than some people make in a year on their jobs...if they have a job in the first place. Should this kid live in the style of which his half-siblings live...not necessarily. Linda Evangelista decided to have him and yes Pinault is the father, but he's also married and Evangelista has her own money. So this child will not exactly be raised in poverty. I think that her income needs to be taken into consideration and split the difference. If the mother has a sizable income of her own, I've never thought that it is fair to take the father to the cleaners. No one needs that kind of money to raise a child...I don't care who you are. This sounds like spite, anger, greed and jealousy that he didn't marry her. No one told her to role the dice on this billionaire and then when she crapped out, now she wants to stick it to him in court. Both parties should have had more sense and used protection...then this would be a mute subject.

Okay, I was shocked, too, but then, think about how much money this man has. It's all relative. That might be a huge grab, and perhaps Evangelista is not the sharpest knife in the drawer (see the documentary, "Unzipped" to see what I mean), but her child's father is a billionaire. If he can easily afford it, why not? It's only money. LOTS and LOTS of money.

What is wrong with all of you people, this man is not an ugly, old, perverted, geezer, he's 49 years old. That's practically a teenager in billionaire years.

A child's quality of life should match that of BOTH parents. If Daddy would not balk at spending half a million dollars a year raising a child on his own, why should it be an issue now? It's not about the dollar amount. It's about how that child should be living given how both of the parents are living.
09:20 AM on 08/03/2011
That's a fair point. But a part of me is fairly certain that, in Ms. Evangelista's eyes, the $46,000 is more about her being able to maintain a certain style of living than it is about being able to care for the kid.

Maybe I'm way off base, but that's what it seems like to me.

This story represents (though be it in an extreme way) the sad state of the family court system, which turns the child into nothing but a money bag to be fought over.

And it's played out much more tragically on the smaller stage of average people, who's live can be devastated emotionally and financially with how this system is currently set up.

Oh my gosh, really it costs her $46K a month to raise her son, along with the money she makes...really? She even admits she is too busy for her son, she is more worried about her looks. If a judge allows this he is crazy and this is absurd.

Wow. 16 hour days and works on her "image" on her days off. I read this article and saw the picture of this child and realized what a lonely little boy he will be. Lonely for a parent that was not there. Raised by nannies and in time driven to a private boarding school in an armored limo. I don't understand why people like this have children - other than the fact its seen as a "status". So they can perhaps say "Hey look I am not completely plastic" is my best guess. Such a sad story for the child. Everyone sees the money and the mother, but not the child.

Do you even know her? Maybe she wanted a child. Maybe she was in love with this guy and he dumped her for Salma. Maybe she thinks her child deserves the same type of life that Salma's child is having. Maybe she really does love the little boy and wants what's best for him.

Lots of wealthy people have children and do everything you have mentioned above. Do you look down on them, too? It's twice as hard being a single parent. I think you are assuming too much and don't know all the details. But don't let that stop you.

Nor will I. Madame I am one of your fans and fan I remain but - Please think about this. This women knew what kind of life she lived. Being a parent means to -I've an idea. This is from a dictionary.

--- A parent is a caretaker of the offspring in their own species. In humans, a parent is the mother or the father figure of a child. Biological parents consist of the male who sired the child and the female who gave birth to the child. In all human societies, the biological mother and father are both responsible for nurturing and raising their young.

IF you know you can't be and do this... what is the point. To give birth to a child is aRESPONSIBILITY. You don't have a child because you "think" your in love. Your giving birth to a child to love, honor, nurture, teach and to do this you - have - to - be - there. Now think about this copy and past from the story you seem to have failed to think about after you read it.

The judge inquired about Evangelista's current employment, to which she responded that she sometimes puts in 16-hour shifts and, "On days when I do not work, I am working on my image." With her money and the "nowherefather's" she could live up to what she gave birth to. This goes for the rich. They can/could afford it. enjoy your day.

These laws have become absurd. They should cap it at the average median wage a worker makes in this country and the rest should go into a trust fund for the kid.
