responsibility is dependability

Legalizing and taxing pot is a great idea. Unfortunately, our government already runs the drug trade and "they" can keep the prices extremely high and therefore revenues exponentially higher in the way things are currently structured.

Well Dennis. For those of you interested in this article I would hope your interest goes beyond smoking "DeKine" toward industrial hemp production. I've got to tell you I can get excited over this. For information on industrial hemp follow this link:

That's not what DEA says. Did you go to the link? It's a small pamphlet and it covers the details of the Federal governments stance on industrial hemp. It is actually the same plant only with a much less THC content. About .003.

Thanks for the reply. Please do check the link. Thanks again.

I imagine there are many supporters of the legalization of pot who nonetheless think that comparing that cause to the life-or-death struggle in Libya is more than a bit asinine.

Fight all the fights that need fighting.
09:30 PM on 08/22/2011
I agree entirely -- but while you are fighting those fights, do not demean yourself or the causes you are fighting for by saying embarrassing nonsense like Kucinich did. I realize he was saying it at a rally for legalization. It was still stupid. Thousands of Libyans have died over the last six months. They would happily have exchanged places with American pot smokers.

Unfortunately, Ron Paul is foolishly anti-choice...smack him in the head and disabuse him of his anti-woman notions and I may listen to what else he has to say.

Sorry but, 51% of us have a say in this. (Bachman, Palin, etc, excluded from reality.)

anti-woman, Did you know he was pro-choice? That is until he became a doctor and actually saw them being preformed. Not only that but he has a very powerful philosophical argument. I am to pro-choice but I can respect and admire his stance. He isn't Anti-choice for Religious purposes or to satisfy a group. He's anti choice because he has delivered birth to 4000 babies, he's seen abortions preformed and he truely believes that life begins in the womb. Do you think if you would have had these experiences as Paul has had you might think different. You are never going to agree 100% on a representative but at least you know that this one is Morally sound. Are you willing to compromise your entire moral High ground for one issue, that actually supports a right to life? Of all the things to find wrong with a person, It's this choice that puzzles me the most. I mean he's trying to let babies live... and your other alternatives are blowing up babies overseas in Wars. What is it you really stand for?

ha! ron paul would let the states decide. just like he would let the states decide whether it's legal to shop on christmas, or whether blacks should pay a poll tax.

the only "constitutional" rights he would apply across the board to all the states are: the right to prevent anyone from having or giving an abortion, the right to have guns with no restrictions, and the right to require prayer in school.

Why would you distort the Ideas of Doctor Paul and the constitution out of spite. If you said something intellectually honest, I'd respect that. But this is outright slander and propaganda. Why are being such a bad person.

Good luck mobilizing potheads. The reason that these efforts never get anywhere are:
A) I was going to vote to legalize, but I got high!
B) I was at the voting booth but checked the wrong block, because I was high!
C) I got arrested for possession at the booth, because I was high! Because I was high, because I was... wait, what was I voting for?

I believe it is just a generational issue.
As the old lawmaker retire and a younger generation starts making law, it will be done.
I say this understanding that there are exceptions at both ends, but the trend is generational.

Spot on. That's the one, and only, reason.
Every other reason given is a smokescreen or a result of propergander disseminated by those who profit from prohibition.

Unfortunately, it will remain profitable and, until it isn't, prohibition will prevail.

I've seen this whole movie before and it's worse this time than the last.

It's HIGH TIME marijauna was legalized!!! Think of the tax revenues!!! . . . and those on the right and those clutching thier bibles could benefit from a toke or two . . . or twelve!

Booze is legal, tobacco is legal, sex is legal . . . and if you're a priest or pastor, even illegal sex is dang near impossible to prosecute to a conviction, so it's time to legalize "giggle smoke" . . . heck, with all of the idiocy in Congress, we all need a little something to make us giggle . . .

I think the bigger story is buried in this piece.
Redistricting. THAT is a big deal. Not just in Ohio, but coast to coast.
The GOP plays that game under the radar very well and have been playing it for years.
Have you ever looked at redistricted maps and wondered how they got such odd shapes?
Exactly. And the GOP knows it. Not many pay attention to politics and even fewer look at those type of obscure things. At least not on a national level.

No, they aren't.
What I said is true. They are very good at it.
Just like they are very good at the messaging game and controlling the debate.
They Dems try, but the GOP is out of their league at those things.
That is simply a sad fact.

So correct. Kucinich tells it like it is, We have a republican gov here in Ohio who lied about his intentions while campaigning to garner votes from scared taxpayers, Jobs? How about killing labor, privatizing everything, fracking, water rights, reproductive rights?).

Now comes redistricting, which translates to something a kindergartner would look at and say "Hey, those are really dumb rules!"

PLEASE ELECT KUCINICH ON THE COAST! This is one Ohioan who is really sad to see him go. Especially the way he's being ushered out by the bad guys. We need his reasonable voice in congress.

I'm a longtime fan of him. I believe he's one of the sanest and most honest politicians. I went to vote for the very first time in 2Ks, just because of him, but his name wasn't on the ballot! I don't know why he talked about everything...suffragettes, Dr. MLK's march, marijuana, and Gandhi's march for Indians, but not about Deaf people like me? Cochlear Implant doctors violate Hippocratic Oath by gambling Deaf babies. A few of them were murdered by the doctors. There is no federal statistic on CI, but we believe it's about 90% failing rates. In many cases, they deform CI users' faces and cause them severe and constant headaches. They see us as if we need to be fixed rather than as a culture. American Sign Language is oppressed everywhere since 1880, even though linguists and researchers found that it's a real language. Researchers repeatedly showed proof that bilingual education for Deaf kids works very great and oralism and other unnatural languages like contact language, Signed Exact English, etc, don't. Alexander Graham Bell Association is very active and deceive corporations in order to get their millions dollars charities and vulnerable parents of Deaf children. I emailed him about it, but he didn't reply to me.

Kucinich needs to run for the Dem primaries. Obama has so completely honked off the Democrat base it would not surprise me if Obama lost the primary to Kucinich.

I, for one, will never EVER cast a vote for Obama again. I was lied to repeatedly and I have never regretted a vote more. Obama is nothing but Shrub Redux.

I would ask for some specifics, but your post appears to be entirely too emotional for a reasoned and rational response. But if I am mistaken and you would like to go into some specific areas you have complaints about, I would be interested in that discussion.

I would be happy with politicians who didn't run on promises that got us to vote for them. I know legalization was not what he ran on when running for president, but when you say something rational like this not too long ago and then switch, that leaves questions like why should I vote for this guy?

But his poll numbers are not great up here. Not yet, anyway.
I would rather see him run in the 8th district and get rid of Dave Reichert.
