So she was one of the early people to fetishize corseting?
Huh.
Interesting. It's a common thing today, and it was common in the victorian era not only for women to wear corsets, but to believe they were only marriageable if their waist size was smaller than their age.

It's a fetishistic, weird standard of beauty. But it's no more weird than women today thinking they should have hips and breasts the same size as their waist, Asian women who get surgery to have more "american" noses, women using glues with god knows what chemicals in them to apply false eyelashes, or using chemicals that are known to cause allergies and increase the risk of cancer to get different hair colors.

In every age, some people have done weird things in the name of getting some body part to apply to some ridiculous, stylized standard that will magically make them more beautiful. It's all birds preening bright colored feathers to get the attention of a potential mate.

So what if she was dissatisfied with his small (ahem) appendage? I think he should have been made to walk around and sleep with weights tied to it (to lengthen it) and an umbrella inflated within it (to improve width). This woman was stupid to ever go along with it, where On Earth are her organs supposed to fit now? Sick people......

This reminds me of Chinese foot binding or African neck elongation. I suppose in America we have a form of body disfigurement, it's could be called Big Mac gargantuation mutation.

Sorry, that is NOT a look to aspire to (or, for grammarians, to which one should aspire). Does anyone really think that's attractive?

It sounds like she was willing to do that...
Waist training is an extremely disciplined art. You can't really do it if you're not at all into it. She could have just taken off her corset when he was not home and eaten a bit more, and her waist wouldn't have done that.

I don't blame her for looking so angry... it must hurt to have all your guts pushed and shoved around!
