That's what the media is pushing. Consumerism and nothingness. They want people, kids, to think they can have it all without doing anything for it. It's all a big commercial.

And this is the legacy of the Bush years. And they want to blame US for thinking that we can achieve this.

"Me? I'm going to do a better job of keeping up. Seems the least I can do when they're working so damn hard to get my attention."

I'm sure you wrote that with tongue planted firmly in cheek, but just in case you were being serious...

Then you can keep up with them for the both of us because I don't care squat about them.

Note, to me Big Brother, Amazing Race and the other shows with a purpose are game show's to me. Because in the end, you are trying to win a prize, not like doing nothing and getting something, like we all do everyday, 9 to 5 without camera's. That is the difference between the K3 girls, and I say that with a smug tone. Hard to call them ladies. They do nothing and get paid. I do more and get less. So bad.

Teen Mom's
Jersey Shore
The Kardashian's all reality TV
Taken off the air, and put on something where people are knocked up without marriage, drunk and falling down, arrested and foul mouth, yes my darling daughter grow up this way. What happen to morals, respect and more. Did anyone ever hear the way The Kardashian's talk to their Mother, who think's she is a sister anyway. With no respect at all.

I think I feel that they earned whatever spot they have by doing naked photos and dirty video's while I go to work each day to make an honest living, work hard, take crap and go back in the morning. Fix my own hair and make-up and shop for myself. While I work hard for the paycheck I get while people who show up in a video that wasn't suppose to get out (oh sure) but did get so called famous, makes me mad. We as a society must stop feeding into these kinds of people. We must bring back real and honest to good talented hard working, without a foul mouth and being naked back to TV. The post who said it best is.............................WMS425s
Bravo! Very well said. The sad thing is that as the Emmys are presented tonight, you will see very talented, trained and accomplished people on the red carpet and at the ceremony along with those reality show "celebs." A lot of the audience will lump them all together, thinking there is no difference between a Julliard grad and a Kardashian because they're all on TV.
JULLIARD AND THE KARDASHIAN'S, THERE SHOULD BE A BIG DIFFERENCE, when people who earn their craft the right way don't get pushed to the back of the line by someone like these 3. Why get an education then girls, sleep around film it and all America will love and pay you. So Bad!

As always Lorraine insightful and amusing! I felt the same way here in N.J. when that snookie person got something like 50 K to speak at rutgers. It seemsto me that while there have always been celebrities that accomplished nothing other then become famous by the tricks of fortune and circumstance our substance straved age has raised it to a new level.

Bravo Lorraine! Love this article so much, I'm printing it out for my 22 year old and 16 year old daughter to read since they are currently aspiring to look like these girls and it makes me sad!

What makes me sad is that you have no control over your own children and the content they are exposed to in your home. I'd rather tell my children the truth about the world and the glorification of glammed-up whoredom. Instead of trying to be their sad, but best friend, why don't you try being their parent?

Very harsh and unnecessary.

You know nothing about the poster you are replying to. What are you? Mother of the year? Don't make assumptions about people you don't even know and their parenting skills or lack of. It doesn't make you look very smart. My mom was a good parent, at least by YOUR definition. She didn't try to be a friend, she was a parent and guess what, genius? Two of my siblings were wild and out of control and the other three of us were not. The point is, no matter what you do, you do NOT have 100% control over children, especially when they are in their teens and twenties. Now go pound sand.

Very well said, you made a wonderful point. That is why these girls get to me, because they wouldn't know good honest true values and work if it slapped them upside the head.

I'm not sure if you've noticed what scrolls along the right hand side of the screen here, but it absolutely makes your point. And may I say I'm glad I keep up with your articles, rather than the Kardashians!

Spot on, Lorraine!! Seldom can I even read their names and smile, but you made it happen--along with lots of chuckles. Thanks--your writing is always a joy to read.
