It was a good call, the hold takes place during the 3 second mark in the very upper left hand corner of the video. The ref throws the flag right away. The bears just need to play better.

I just yell 'Buck and Aikman' at the tv every time they annoy me.
08:37 PM on 09/26/2011
You must yell a lot.
08:49 PM on 09/26/2011
I'm not a fan of either but Aikman has some serious 'concussion' issues and I feel sorry for him.

I think it has to do with the relatively short distance between the cities rather than luck.

The penalty took place before the shot of the receiver getting the ball, you can see the flag on the field as the runner takes off. Back up the shot a bit and you'll see the hold.
08:03 PM on 09/26/2011
Yeah, if you watch the play right after the snap, right as the ball is being kicked, you can see on the left side of the screen #21 holding the punt team's gunner by the shoulder pad as he was trying to run by. That's the holding call.

Yes, the hold takes place at the 3 second mark of this video and the ref reaches and throws the flag right away. The flag actually lands on the ground as the ball is being caught. And as 21 runs off the field, he does not argue at all. Good call.

If the new rule is that the announcers are always right, every Buck-Aikman game is going to have at least 20 wrong calls in it.

Regardless of the loss, that ONE play was cooler than anything the Packers have done all season

"Cool" doesn't put a team in the Superbowl.

Leave it to a Bear fan to come up with that....Harry High School Plays from Lovie Smith won't make you a winning team..

A quick look and all will see the penalty flag laying on the 18 yard line when the real receiver catches the ball. It is on the left side of the field and was thrown from behind the receiver and it sailed past him. The penalty came within the first 4 seconds of the play..

The call was spot on. #21 Bears held #24 Packers clearly at the 3 second mark on this video. Had he not held him, the runback likely would not have been possible.

I don't know even with enhanced resolution I couldn't see it in the replay. The only thing I noticed in those early seconds was that 21did get beat by 24, but that's it. Normally holding is called after the receiving team has the ball not that early before.

What's interesting is this concept of the dual returner. It may have been a gimmick move but could it be implemented?

Well I'm glad to have finally seen that video with the opportunity to rewind and watch EVERYTHING several times, I do believe the right call was made. A Packer fan I may be, but I was not content with a play call of that kind of brilliance getting called back for apparently nothing. My consience is now clean, though. Still a great play and great execution by 10 players.

Buck and Aikman are two of the worst play by play crew in all of broadcasting, currently and historically.

No one injects fake drama into a sports event better than Joe Buck. He's terrible.

It took me a while to see it, but it was a hold. You see it better from the view behind the punter before the cut away to the wide angle. It is a little marginal because it was not likely to affect the play (refs don't call every hold), but it was most likely called because he stuck out his arm for the hold as the guy was running away.

Is it a shock to anyone that the former Ref is on the side of the Refs. Really OMG that is so surprising!

Wrong. The hold was blatantly obvious and the player even admitted to it in post game interviews. They got this one right.
