between despair and hope lays but one small step
01:19 PM on 10/06/2011
Why does America think this is essentially an American problem? It's not. It may have been largely caused by Wall Street greed, but it's global. This is one of the reasons why it's going to take so long to fix.

The rest of the world - except for those countries not seriously effected by the toxic asset fallout are by-and-large in deeper trouble that the US is. Whole countries are going bankrupt. Growth has stagnated. Jobs are lost. And it's not over yet. Greece has all but collapsed. Italy and Spain are next. Ireland and Iceland have seen their economies wrecked for ten, probably twenty years. This is unprecedented in modern times.

Yet somehow it's all Obama's fault.

And while Obama's job's bill is a step in the right direction, it's way too small to have the kind of effect needed to kick-start the US economy. It needs to be 10 times as greater in scope no way can that be supported without revenues and/or unbelievable cuts to the budget.

The only hope America has is that the House gets retaken in 2012, that the Senate gets an intake of same-page Democrats at the same time, and that Obama remains in the White House.

I don't care if this is only for the next four years, because the next four years are probably going to be the most important four years America has seen in generations.

Our economy is not entirely Obama's fault at all.

The issue is how to get additional jobs into the system?

Does this JObs Bill just continue jobs through state and local, that are in place, or create totally new ones?

China is criminally manipulating it currancy on the world market and India has an entire class of millions born into abject poverty and slavery every year. Which one of those should we be imitating.

To quote yourself "Hello?"

I did write: "except for those countries not seriously effected by the toxic asset fallout"

It's sometimes essential to read all the words otherwise you end up looking only as smart as a Bachmann.

Well, we have again heard the repub job creation ideas...

Deregulate, pollute and tax cuts.

We did deregulate under 14 years of a repub controled congress/8 years in the WH and what could possibly go wrong? No jobs created for starts and the lowest investment in American history... How do you create no jobs while doubling the size of government and trippling reagans debt?

We did cut taxes and no jobs were produced and taxes now are 15% below reagan and bush levels...

How about repubs denouncing your policy of out sourcing and race to the bottom and instead reindustrializing as opposed to shipping jobs to the communist and socialst countries you say you hate..sounds more like an act of love..

It's not just the number of vacant jobs. Why does it now take every adult member of a family to earn a wage in order to pay the expenses? -- because we spend fortunes the latest and most expensive consumer fads, live in mortgaged houses that are unnecessarily large and filled with luxury on-credit items, eat in restaurants too frequently or purchase costly prepackaged goods to heat for meals, pay a few bucks for a cup of coffee at the high-end coffee shop, purchase lottery tickets in abundance, buy a new car every couple of years or so even though the current vehicle runs well and, in many cases, own to many cars, vans, trucks and recreation vehicles to tear up the rural environment. And I could go on and on.
Except for the lottery tickets, a lot of the consumer stuff mentioned is in part, or whole, not made in the USA which is running an incredible trade deficit as well as budget deficit.
And Mr Obama wants you to spend more? He's as crazy as the rest of us.

we let the dems steer the ship for a couple of years, then realized their policies would sink the whole american naval fleet if continued, so we started correcting the problem in 2010 and will finish in 2012.

You really have anmesia. As I recall, while Bush a Republican was in office, we were attacked, we started two unjust wars, once of which was an absolute lie, the housing market had crashed, the banks were on the brink of closing their doors, the automobile industry was teetering on bankruptcy, we were losing 750,000 JOBS A DAY and people that had been on jobs for decades were given pink slips, while the JOB CREATORS, as the Republican party calls them were given sweet retirement packages, spending lavishly on meetings, vacations, jets and all of this on the American People's dime.

Come 2012, the job that the President is trying to fix will be corrected and most of your Party of NO will be voted out of office.

Only 20% of the electorate blame Obama for the economy. he may not be able to fix in 3 years the greatest economic disaster in 80 years.. it took FDR 15 years to undo the last Repub disaster, not as big as this.. then we still made stuff, had trade surpluses, ere not at war, fianced our own debt and it took almost 8 years to undo the reagan disaster and that was with his help by raising taxes when the tax cuts failed to do anything but raising the debt.

Twice as many think that Obama /Dems can create jobs as repubs..
