A point of personal privilege, if I may. My best friend (and the best journalist I've ever known) is surviving brain cancer. No, this is not a sad tale. Indeed, his prognosis looks good and there is an upside: He has finally started a blog, which I've been badgering him to do for years. Even if it were only the chronicle of his health care adventure, which it is only in part, I'd still recommend this blog for the powerful writing, insight and wit of a weirdly great thinker.
