I'm Just Bored

What's Your Reaction:

I've received so much email about this, a quick explanation: I decided to focus on my writing and play the field on cable news instead of being attached to one channel, MSNBC. I have a happy home blogging and doing videos for CQ-Roll Call -- and thoroughly enjoy interacting with the many commenters there. Lately, I've been bored by what I was doing on TV. So, a reboot on that front feels right for me.

mr crawford is an honest journalist.......not an opinion-pusher.....you know, "what happened?" and then "why" and "how", etc.......

really, with liberals like some of you'ns seem to be, who needs righties?

I agree with you Craig. I'm also bored with cable news and I'm a news junkie. There was a time not that long ago that I would not miss Keith and Rachel, but lately I'd rather surf the net or watch regular old TV. Cable news needs some new blood or something. I certainly don't have the answers.

I hate to say it Craig, but you know "they" say "bored people are boring people". I don't have anything against you but I couldn't tell you anything you ever said.

What do you guys think of Rick Sanchez on CNN? I like his passion, without ideological baggage. I am pitching him for my new anchor buddy.

Wish you the best of luck Craig, I always saw you in Countdown w/Keith Olberman and enjoyed your witty input. As far as Rick Sanchez, I just think he is not my taste. He's too pushy and seems like he tries too hard to add to what's already reported but that's just me. Anyway good luck with whatever or whoever your with in news. I also find the cable news a bit boring sometimes and very repetitive.

Craig,
I have seen people quit and end up with a much more high paying retainer at Fox. You may think MSNBC is lefty, I and can agree with you on that. But if you think your practical senses will do anything to tamp down a media outlet that would hire and give stage to Glen Beck you are sorely mistaken.
I like you, I hope you will be picked up by a profit making company, and I pray it is not Fox.

say craig.. it's a shame what media has become: boring. there's such potential there!

but just too many ads and stump speeches (like there's a diff lol)..

everyone is talking ''at'' each other and the audience.. instead of talking ''to'' same.

i use my tv once a year now for the masters and bless their hearts they keep the crap to a minimum.

when i used to watch.. you were one of the very few highlights btw.

"I really don't see why anyone should care."

It really don't see why it's really much of a mystery to you why they "care". I believe it has something to do with your statements that I read earlier this morning.

"i simply could not any longer endure being a cartoon player for lefty games, just gotta move on to higher ground even if there's no oxygen" and "Crawford claims he is appearing on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" on Monday."

I honestly *don't* care what you do, but it's absurd for you to make provocative statements and then expect nobody to be provoked.

You have a point there, John. I was just riffing in the thread of my blog as I often do with my regular commenters. Was a bit surprised to find that stuff popping up elsewhere. But you're right, I shouldn't be surprised.

I am a fan of Rachel Maddow but I worry she is getting bogged down in the role of being an echo of the democratic party in a very conventional way. She has so much talent and great potential to go out of the box to inform us but her show is becoming so predictable with the same party hacks and analysts every night. I hope she will open her show up a bit to people on the left outside of the democratic party which would be a great service to the public because we hardly ever see these people on television. Politics is not limited to the two rotten parties in washington.

I've seen her take on the Dems as well as the Repubs. Problem is, she's smart as a whip and is not afraid to call out someone for lying, that's why few of those from the right will go on her show anymore.

Mr. Crawford,

You've been on the network for many years and haven't gotten any farther than being asked in to comment on a subject or sit on a panel with 3 other people in a split screen. Some people can be content being a bit player for their whole lives, some can't. I understand how that could get boring after many years and that you would like to see if you can go a little farther doing something else somewhere else.

But, it is probably not the best idea for you to trash your former employer and instead just go forward to look for new opportunities.

Yep, Cleveland, you're right. Should have just kept it to myself, but I'm not too good at that.

Far be it for me to put words into the Craigster's mouth, but could it be that he's tired of sharing time with "journalists" who are little more than advocates for those who already have too loud a voice on "both sides" of every issue?

Well, Mister Crawford, this isn't unique to cable news. Just watch any of the networks and you'll get even less substantive debate. We are owned. But at least you were collecting a paycheck. Good luck, whatever you choose to do.

Craig, did Huff Po get it wrong...talking about how you were being used by the left and being a cartoon? It seemed to me as though you fired the openning salvo...

OffTheLows, people with opposing viewpoints won't go on KO or Maddow. Maddow has openly talked about requesting them to no avail. It's not her fault they can't stand the heat.
12:24 AM on 03/06/2010
I don't blame you. MSNBC has become people sharing the same opinion. KO or Maddow never have guests with opposing viewpoints, or if Rachel does, it's a one on one spot, not a panel. People agreeing with each other on nearly every issue doesn't make for very stimulating television, though admittedly it's par for the course on radio.

Wow, I don't know what MSNBC you are watching but it's definitely not the one you describe.

Pat Buchanan's mug is on MSNBC 5 hours a day on anyone of the plethora of "panels" they have on to discuss topics at all hours of the day. They have Republican strategists and opposing views on all the time.

Chris Matthews' favorite guest is Hot Tub Tom Delay. Rachel Maddow has invited Lynn Cheney to come on her show a million times; Cons are scared to death to go on Rachel's show because she won't let their propaganda go unchallenged.

I think that OffTheLows means during Kieth Olbermann and Maddow, which is true, but not all their fault..although I'm not sure KO even makes an effort t get people from the red side on his show.
But, just on Morning Joe everyday and on Hardball, they have several guests on and contributors from all sides. On MJ, they give them equal time, don't shout down, and call BS on people who throw out talking points. They did it to Axelrod...they've done it to any number of GOP guests. MJ is a great show and truly represents the balance that Fox falsely claims their channel to be.

Spot on cleveland, people who claim MSNBC doesn't provide time for opposing points of views are just trying to spin and not doing a very good job of it either. But then again this entire thread is a bad attempt at spin!
