Longoria's Petting Moment

Posted: 09/09/2012 12:23 am

Our presidential nominees have emerged from their taxpayer-subsidized conventions accomplishing a principal goal: To ignore the $6 billion per month that taxpayers are spending in Afghanistan and the average of one U.S. soldier killed there every day this year.

Instead, we got to see Eva Longoria strangely petting Jessica Alba's upper right arm. I am not familiar with either of these people but Democratic strategists say that millions of white working class men will now vote for Barack Obama because of this.

Republican operatives are seeking depression therapy because it never occurred to them to feature two women touching each other provocatively. Best they could have done might have been Clint Eastwood and Tom Selleck in some sort of man love moment that would appeal to women voters -- perhaps Eastwood gently stroking Selleck's forehead with a butter knife would have done the trick.

The upshot? Longoria's petting moment rivals Eastwood's empty chair -- as a distraction all the more welcome to both parties wanting to talk about anything that doesn't matter.

I hear ya Craig. You've become bitter. You were once 'constructively angry' and you rightly took most of it 'out' on the anti-American-republicans....but now you've gone past angry to bitter. It kind of suits you, I'll admit but it makes any comment you have on politics and society in general somewhat irrelevant- don't YOU agree?

Hey Craig, you really got it right ! How did Huffington find you?

I'm sorry Craig but you've come down with a case of "both parties" disease. It's a common malady that seems to be infecting the media throughout the course of this presidential campaign. If you watched the Democratic convention, you might have heard people in one, particular party talking about plenty of things that matter. Unfortunately, because you've come down with this lumped-together-itis thing, you will probably not be able to report on the veracity of all the important things the Democrats were talking about . . . as your condition renders you incapable of understanding the consequence of anything that was said.

To point to this innocent gesture as somehow provocative is yet another indication of the foolishness, the puerility of the media and those who believe what they think they find there.

Nicely said, Bob. Cmon Craig, you can do better.
