Curtis Stone prepares waffle batter, then cooks up homemade waffles topped with banana slices and a honeycomb and honey butter syrup. What's sweeter than that?
Homemade Waffles with Honeycomb Butter and Bananas
Preheat a Belgian waffle iron and preheat the oven to 200F.
Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into a large bowl.
In another large bowl, whisk the milk, egg, and melted butter to blend.
Add the milk mixture to the dry ingredients, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
COOK WAFFLES:
Spray waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray.
Pour the waffle batter onto each of the hot waffle grids.
Cover and cook for 5 to 8 minutes, depending on your iron (most new irons have a timer), or until the waffle is golden and crisp on the outside and cooked through.
Transfer the waffles to the oven tray and keep them warm in the oven, while cooking the remaining waffles.
WHILE WAFFLES COOK, MAKE THE BUTTER:
Stir all the ingredients for the honeycomb butter in a medium bowl until blended but chunks of the honeycomb still remain.
SERVE WAFFLES:
Place the hot waffles on plates.
Top the waffles with sliced bananas and the honeycomb butter.
