The Only Reason You Ever Need to Get Serious About Your Health

Unfortunately, our society has truly over complicated health. There are endless amounts of foods, diets, pills and routines that promise health, weight loss, more energy and just about anything else you can think of. Once we internalize how complicated it's actually not, we regain a ton of power. Power that we absolutely need to master in order to live long and vibrant lives.

In a world that revolves around instant gratification, we have lost patience and diluted our connection to the true things that bring us both happiness and health. With a quick search, a tap, a swipe or a download, we have so much information at our fingertips. It's easy to see why information overload has distorted our understanding of what health really means.

While there is not cookie cutter diet for everyone, we need to get back to a state of mind that truly values our body and the fact that we are a work in progress. There is no download button for smaller thighs and whiter teeth. We need to be seriously get in tune with how important our bodies are and how we can nurture them.

Think about this...

Your body is the only thing in the entire world that truly belongs to you. In most of our cases, your house, your car and even your job are actually owned by someone else or another entity. Your physical being belongs to no one in the entire galaxy except for you. What else? You only get one. There is no return receipt for your body. There is no exchange policy and you do not have a button that will reverse all of the terrible things you may have put into it or exposed it to. That is powerful stuff!

Your body is your vessel. You fuel it and it fuels you. What you put in, you get out. What you eat today for lunch and every single day for the next 10, 20 and 30 years will directly affect your how comfortable you live and your ability to do the things that make you happy. What you drink today affects your ability to play in the yard with your grandkids in the future. It affects your ability to work hard and retire when you wish. It affects your ability to travel the world with the love of your life as you please. It will determine how your time is spent as you age.

Ask yourself: Will you be at the doctor and filling medications? Or will you be riding bikes and doing Zumba class with your friends?

Think about the things you look forward to in life and think about the quality of life with which you want to live out these memories. How important does that future look and feel for you?

We are addicted. We love sugar, drugs, alcohol and starchy processed foods. Break the cycle. Set the example for those around you. Learn to love the food that nourishes you. Adore and treasure your body no matter what it looks like today. You have the ability to accomplish anything you put your mind to and that may be the most powerful affirmation you can ever internalize.

So do what you have to do. Read books, follow those leading us to health, watch videos and start eliminating the stuff that is deterring your prized possession from functioning at 100 percent. Eat clean, eat from the earth and be well!
