Eight Crazy Ideas That Corrupted the World

Human history is sprinkled with crazy ideas that have caused more horror than can be catalogued -- ideas that at the least provide evidence that the human brain is still a malfunctioning organ. Here are some of the oldest crazy ideas:

1. The Earth is as flat as a pancake because that's what you see when you look out the window.

2. The Sun revolves around the Earth because that's what you see when you look out the window.

3. It's all right for people of my religion to torture and kill people of your religion because my religion is the true religion.

4. It's all right for uneducated parents to decide what and how to teach their children because parents own their children.

5. But it's also all right for the State to ban abortions because a woman does not own her fetus.

6. It's all right for rich people to be greedy because without greed how can they get rich?

7. It's all right for men to beat up their wives and children because men risk their lives to protect them.

8. If poor people don't like being poor they should just stop being poor.

Some of these crazy ideas are no longer so popular in some quarters -- which does not mean much because for every crazy idea that becomes obsolete two more crazy ideas take its place.
