Show Trials?

The first domino to fall in the GOP's coming Tribal Scandals might be Tom Delay -- or even Mr. Ralph Reed. This Delay-Abramahoff-Ralph Reed Indian casino scandal is really, I mean really, gross. Total insider enrichment, linking the former head of the Christian Coalition to simple pay for play, not pray for God, politics.

All kudos to Arianna and others in this space for repeatedly pushing Congressional folks to say something (!) about the situation in Iraq.

On that front, my fingers are crossed, for some step up, or some spine -- and yes we'll take a resignation of conscience or two if it will move us towards discussing serious new directions in Iraq let alone the broader challenges of "effective global engagement".

But while I hope the first casualty of Imperial overreach will be Donald Rumsfeld (yo folks and fellows, why not MoveBack.org and re-blast those Dump Rumsfeld lists for good measure?) the first domino to fall in the GOP's coming Tribal Scandals might be Tom Delay -- or even Mr. Ralph Reed.

This Delay-Abramahoff-Ralph Reed Indian casino scandal is really, I mean really, gross. Total insider enrichment, linking the former head of the Christian Coalition to simple pay for play, not pray for God, politics. Definitely some decent sidebar fodder for any Huffington sequel to Pigs at The Trough, but (as that old Peggy Lee classic goes) is that all there is my friends?

Not if the real backstory here turns out to be the rise (and fall) of Ralph Reed -- kind of a Tony Coelho story for their side? Makes one pause to consider...

The overall scandal story:

The next big question the researchers are asking:

What services did Ralph Reed provide to earn his $2 million fee in this case?

The hearings:

Manana. Senate Indian Affairs Committee. C-Span 7.

The result:

Hell if I know. I ain't predicting over here, just de-toxing for the summer -- and doing some anger management work via this post.

Here's hoping however for a house-cleaning; I myself am halfway into organizing my garage. Daunting tasks they all are, but not impossible I say.
