Too Harsh on Religious Loonies?

If you can't be self-indulgent in a blog then where can you be self-indulgent?

Our beloved great leader Arianna has gone to New York or somewhere to write some more blogs and turn them into a book.

I was going to do the same thing, and then I thought, no everyone is doing that, how can you be different, stand out from the crowd, not be confused (if only!) with Cenk Uygur or Molly Ivins or Laurie David ever again? I know, I will turn my latest book into blogs, and then turn the blogs back into a book, and then ....

When I published my last book, just 5 short years ago (ah, how quickly time flies when you are getting old), publishers seemed to want to publish manuscripts about global warming and the mess the media and neocons and religious fundamentalists were making of our society and the world we live in. Now it seems not -- global warming apparently is so yesterday's news (although of course it wasn't, so go figure).

So we will see what you, my loyal and beloved readers think as the paragraphs and chapters unfold. Where am I going wrong -- have I been too harsh on the religious loonies or not harsh enough, too unkind to George Bush and his friends at Exxon, too gloomy about the coming apocalypse (if the biblical writers had known about rising CO2 levels they could have been much scarier) or not gloomy enough.

You be the judges.

Be gentle, dear reader, for I bruise easily.
