WATCH - Yosemite Rim Fire Grows to Size of Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose Combined

The Yosemite Rim Fire has now burned more forest than the combined areas of San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose -- roughy 200 square miles. This makes the fire the fifth largest in California since we started recording fire sizes in the 1930s.

To put this size in perspective, we have developed a short interactive showing how the fire has spread since August 19th. Click on "play" below to watch it grow.

The area data is from the Geospatial Multi-Agency Coordination Group, which updates fire area based on a number of different sources.
