Journey To The Center Of Hillary Clinton's Mind: "Why Would I Drop Out Before Barack Obama Is Assassinated?"

(The title of this post is satirical. It is not a direct quote from Senator Clinton.)

Anybody watch Step It Up And Dance last night? HOT STUFF!

Anyway gang, I just read something remarkable. "Remarkable" as in, "It is remarkable that my eyeballs are still in my head after reading that."

In an interview with the editorial board of the Sioux Falls Argus-Leader today, Hillary Clinton brought up Bobby Kennedy's June, 1968 assassination as an argument against her dropping out of the Democratic primary.

"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said, dismissing calls to drop out.

She has a point: June is a great month for political assassinations.

Why drop out of the race before all the assassins have had their say?

After all, we know Barack Obama has received multiple death threats -- because he is black, of course, and because some of our fellow citizens think he's a secret Muslim terrorist who is going to take the oath of office on the Koran and make us all pray to Mecca five times a day with that screechy music coming over the loudspeakers(?) and then he'll crash Air Force One into the White House(?) and force our wives to wear those Muslim beekeeper helmets(?).

And the truth is, Obama has consistently failed to win over those voters who want to see him murdered.

UPDATE (5:45 PM):

In the interest of fairness, I should note that Hillary has since apologized for her curious statement. That is, she has apologized to the Kennedys.

I was astounded that she didn't find it necessary to apologize to Obama, his family & his supporters. Just slid right past that.

If (heaven forbid!) something were to happen to Obama . . . . do you think Bill & Hillary would be investigated? And if so, how seriously?
03:27 PM on 05/27/2008
That's in essence what she said. Exactly. That's not even satirical extrapolation.
Of course Clintonistas try their tricks to deny the obvious... They always have their Bart Simpson slogan "I didn't do it" for every mischief they make.

ANYONE who can view Senator Clintons' words no matter whether she meant them with malice or contempt, without a chill run down your spine; should walk in the shoes of African Americans, Christians, those people in Tibet, supporters of JFK,RFK, George Wallace,Ronald Reagan, Abraham Lincoln, friends & families of the students at Columbine , Virginia Tech, Northern Illinois University ...the list of people who watched someone they loved, supported, believed ikilled or attempted to be killed by some crazed person, is endless and the subject of a possibility of murder, as a reason to support anything short of self defense or country, should NEVER pass thru the lips of an elected official. I don't care how tired or desparate or misconstrued the words were.
It's of the poorest taste at best and despicable taken any other way. I am with Keith O on this one this is ovet the topand unforgiveable to come from someone who wants to lead our country.
ALL of us deserve better, and I mean every citizen of this country.

Ted Kennedy did not conceed to Carter until August. She has been denigrated by at least half the MSM for months for no reason other then they don't like her and prefer the more liberal candidate.

This has a lot of impact. Obama will be hard pressed to win her supporters, especially women who reckon Hillary was disprespected. President Bill Clinton is right: she was disrespected simply for running. The other impact is I believe the next woman thinking about running for president will look at this situation and won't press on. This is still a boys club. Amercia has proved itself to be more sexist then racist.
12:35 PM on 05/27/2008
It is my sincere hope that there be no one named 'Clinton' elected to represent anyone in this country again. This campaign has shown the depths of their depravity, and they are frightening. I thought Bush/Cheyney were bad, and they are, but Hill and Bill make them look rational.

This post goes too far. Hillary made a stupid comment about it not being over before the fat lady signs. Her mention of Bill's experience on his nomination and the assassination of RFK in the same breath was stupid but can we let it go and move on the the big economic issues facing the world. The issue should be what do these candidates propose to do about the price of oil, global warming, pollution, mass starvation, and the collapse of the world's financial system. All of the rest of this is just gossip. Shame on the political pundits. They are just street walkers of another kind. Hillary is finally talking some sense on economic issues. Obama seems to be losing track of the bigger issues. He needs to get rid of his neocon foreign policy advisers. Before you knock out Hillary be sure that Obama cannot be swift-boated by the GOP. As much as I have criticized Hillary because of free trade and war-mongering, I have to question setting up America for an Obama nomination if he is vulnerable AFTER the nomination when it is too late. I say keep Hillary in the race for now.
12:03 PM on 05/27/2008
The issue is bizarre behavior and dishonesty. Bill's nomination was in fact sewn up in June. In addition the primary season started in March then. Since her the point she claims to be making is a lie we can assume it was cover to bring up her sick assination theory. Hillary is not talking sense on anything particularly economics, she has ruined what was left of her career and her only followers are either as bitter as her or just plain dumb.
01:54 PM on 05/27/2008
Hillary's comment was, at best, in morbidly poor taste, and, at worst, an abhorrent, macabre invitation to political violence. It reflects the arrogance of the Clintons, with the tacit assumption that the nomination is theirs and has been illegitimately taken from them. Their reversals, maneuvering, attempts to alter the playing field and the rules, prevarications, veiled racism and appeals to anti-democratic and extra-legal means to award her the nomination represent the deep denial in which they operate. The fact of the matter is that Obama beat them at their own game, fair and square; he ate their lunch at the grass-roots organizing they should have been paying attention to. H. lost the nomination out of arrogance and poor planning.
Ultimately, H's behavior is the strongest evidence I know that she is not fit to be president. Inappropriate statement piled upon inappropriate statement; closed-eyed denial of reality; insulation from real world advice—do we really want such a person representing us after 8 years of Bush?

Thank you DrDreg. Those are my thoughts exactly. The way she runs her campaign, regardless of her many years of experience, shows her leadership style. Deep in debt, infighting among staff, barely veiled threats. Can you imagine an America under her leadership? Why anyone is still voting for her is beyond me. Oh yeah, the hard-working, uneducated white people, that's right. Got it. Maybe that's who the assassination statement was for.
10:17 AM on 05/27/2008
Horrible statement and in connection to her staffs repeated statements about 'anything can happen ect. and the Clintons win at all cost ; fix the damage latter a wonderful look at why HRC is a candidate that could loss the general election . John McCain will not hesitae to bring back Monica and all the new material such as the pardons Bill gave on the way out the door.

It is a strange comment. But what did she mean? Perhaps:
Obama will be assassinated because he is running in June, a Democrate, or Black?
She will be assassinated because she is running in June, a Democrate, a woman, or white?
The best thing to to is accept her apology and move on.

What apology are you talking about? I heard her say "if it was in any way offensive I had no intention of that whatsoever". You call that an apology? She still hasn't apologized for her Iraq war vote. As a matter of fact, I don't recall ever hearing Hillary Clinton apoogize for anything. There is another politician who is just like that. That politician is George W. Bush. Beware of politicians who will not apologize for their mistakes. If we haven't learned that from Bush by now, then we deserve McCain, and believe me, if Hillary Clinton is allowed to continue what she is doing, our next president will be John McCain.
07:17 AM on 05/27/2008
She should continue to run because that is her right. Good for her. But this comment is beyond strange. It would have been great if she should have chosen another word. Wish she had, but she didn't. She's a smart woman who knows the power of words. Mmmmmm....ouch.
05:20 AM on 05/27/2008
I am an Obama supporter, but you will never get me to believe that Hillary Clinton sincerely meant that she is staying in this race because there's a chance Obama will be shot. I admire Keith Olbermann, but he needs to take it down a notch on this issue, and so does everyone else who thinks that HRC thinks like that. Will she lie, embellish, connive? Yes, I think so. But I don't for one second think that she's pinning her hopes of becoming the Democratic candidate for the POTUS on Obama getting assassinated.

I'm cynical, but that's beyond the pale. And to engage in this type of vicious conjecture only plays right into the hands of the RNC and a Bush III term.

Perhaps, but it was really dumb for her to say anything.
10:19 AM on 05/27/2008
I do not believe HRC wishes Sen. Obama to be assassinated, but her Freudian slip implies that she is looking for something very negative to happen.

Her husband had the nomination locked up prior to June and she knew that so the examples/reasons she gave for staying in the race were beyond strange. She should have just said no one has reached 2025 so that is cause enough for her to stay. She is a very smart and shrewd woman so she was fully aware of her remarks.

I for one have been worried sick that organized crime would take Obama out and blame it on some nut. After all there are far too many in Washington that like things just the way they are. . . I do know that what used to be a nation of the people by the people and for the people has become a nation, nay, a world of business, by business and for business. How in the hell did that happen? And if this sounds crazy google neoliberalism, a movement designed to replace all social programs with market based motivations, that is, profit will become the driving force of all work. Everything will be done in terms of profit. Just how insane that is can be seen by carrying it out to the logical end, health insurance will be denied to terminal paitients because it is cheaper to let them die. Obama wants to change all that. It isn't a matter of the color of his skin, it is a matter of money. . Will they invest a few million to get rid of him? And that is what worries my most. I don't know how mch of Clintons reported past is real or false, but they hold all kinds of records, one of which is the most associates who have committed suicide or have been murdered. I wonder why all that hasn't been brought up and denied. Is any of it true? Is all f it just a fluke?
04:14 PM on 05/27/2008
Wow, so u won't vote for Obama because of his pastor, rezko and ayers. Incredible. McCain's campaign is chock full of lobbyist and remeber the S&L crisis in Az that McCain had a hand in some years ago. And what of HRC's ties to that Chinese fund raiser who was indicted earlier this yr? Well mr. self righteous, I guess you're SOL and won't be able to vote for anyone this year. You're no Democrat..get the bleep out of my party!!!
08:36 PM on 05/26/2008
Why are people comparing assassinations to presidential candidates? Because Robert Kennedy was assassinated before he won the democratic party presidential nomination (wikipedia) when he was shot in California in June 1968. I won't vote for Obama (Americans have the constitutional right to choose who we'll vote for), I don't feel guilty for not supporting him (I'm a lifelong democrat), and will swing vote if he's the nominee (Americans have that consitutional right too). His leadership is questionable considering his FOLLOWING of Reverend Wright, and associations with Rezko and William Ayers. His campaign staff includes people associated with lobbyists (like David Axelrod): and as far as change in government is concerned, only McCain has proposed weekly press conferences if elected president with the House and Senate, democrats and republicans, given an open floor to question him (newsweek).
11:17 AM on 05/27/2008
The only person that compared, "...assassinations to presidential candidates?" was Senator Clinton, so what are you talking about?

I seriously doubt you are a Democrat and your arguments for supporting McCain are lacking. You would vote for a man whose presidency will mirror the last eight years of what this country has already been put through?

You arguments against Obama are irrational and not researched. Do not vote for a candidate you do not care for (you can write-in) but you should also research your arguments.

1. "His campaign staff includes people associated with lobbyists"
- The vast majority of McCains’ staffers are lobbyists and are currently working as lobbyists in addition to working his campaign.

2. "His leadership is questionable considering his FOLLOWING of Reverend Wright, and associations with Rezko and William Ayers"
- The remarks were taken out of context. The information is there for you to inform yourself.

- Sen. Obama was 8 when Ayers was running amuck and his only association with him as an adult was being on the same board. That does not make him his best friend.

- Rezko is a mess and Sen. Obama gave back a large portion of the moneys that were donated to his campaigns.

3. As for "CHANGE", Sen. Obama has proposed open government where you will be able to access the workings of Washington online. This type of approach is far more inclusive than holding a weekly press conference with specific talking points only.
11:47 AM on 05/27/2008
You have the constitutional right to vote for the candidate of your choice.
However, when you vote, you could make an effort to be rational. Reverend Wright is not on the ballot. Obama is not running for Pope. I don't care that he knows some powerful people who don't meet your standards to be saints. I don't care if they bought him lunch. I don't care if they were sixties radicals before he entered puberty.

McCain's willingness to talk to the press simply expresses his belief that he can BS the masses easily if they are dumb and blind enough to elect him President.

If you're a Democrat, I hope you'll consider voting for the Democratic candidate. If the Republican wins again, the country will get exactly what it deserves, again. And if that happens, more than a few of us will be leaving the US for good.

OK, every time I read a post by someone who thinks what Senator Clinton said was no big deal, it is usually accompanied with a disclaimer that goes something like this.....".Everyone knows she didn't mean it."

What I want to know is how these people who post that she didn't mean it know this? Seriously.
I am not saying she did or didn't mean it. Because I don't know, but guess what, neither does anyone else who posts here.

"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said, dismissing calls to drop out

I've read many posts that wished Hillary would die and many other horrific things. I've watch Obamaniacs insult say deranged things about the Clintons. This hardly unifies.

I saw them praise Wright even while I was watching Obama on tv toss Pappy Wright under the bus with his white Grandma. Then I watched the excuses. I watched the infamous speech about Wright turn into an "inspirational" speech about race in Phili, when in fact it didn't even address the Wright issue. In fact that was the day this election turned racist.

I still come here to find Ob's good points, sometimes I actually do find excellents posts. But, mostly I see character assassinations things not Obama. I don't hear about his womanizing, gaffes, why he was so drawn to black theology & marxism, & the thesis Michelle wrote that really says it all.

I would like a mulit racial couple in office if they had done more for ALL communities.. If they had been under the microscope for enough time to have been thouroughly examined. There's too much blind acceptance. If you love them, know & accept all their negatives, tell us why. GW got in because he was unknown. we all know what happened. The Clintons can & have won to our benefit before. How can OB help us if he's only worked in a minority community & the only legislature he got passed was for Africa? America is just starting to see this disconnect, The Clintons worked hard
12:45 AM on 05/27/2008
CONT'D........................................

Obama was raised by a WHITE ATHEIST. Who in the HECK do you people would be more influential in his life? He didn't throw his grandmother under the bus, he was using her as an example. Many of us have family members or people we view as family and we can't see ourselves cutting ties. I have several friends who come from RACIST households and towns. I have been to their homes, slept in their beds, ate at their dinner table, been in the wedding party, and godparent to their children. Although we have disagreed about some racial matters that have appeared in the news I could no longer disown them as I could my own stepfather...who is a Muslim. He did not want me surrounding myself with these ppl.

"How can OB help us if he's only worked in a minority community & the only legislature he got passed was for Africa?"
--You can't be serious about this, because it's ludicrous.

Obama has worked harder than Hillary could in her entire life. He went in as the underdog and is looking like a champ. Hillary has the name alone, and she feels entitled. She's not!
