News Alert! Some fancy lady named Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild has decided that Barack Obama is an "elitist" and therefore she's going to endorse John McCain.
Is this the greatest news factoid of all time?
Answer: YES.
It turns out ol' Lady Lynn Forester der von Rothschild -- who "splits her time time between London and New York" -- was a major fundraiser for Hillary Clinton. (For some reason, I suddenly feel overwhelming sympathy for Sen. Clinton.)
After Obama beat Clinton in the Democratic primary, Lady de Rothschild was probably like, "Boo-hoo, my candidate lost, waah waah, nothing ever goes my way! Jeeves, please lower me into my diamond bathtub -- which is filled with real diamonds -- and shampoo my hair with the triple-distilled tears of orphans. Also, I command you to perform a champagne enema on one of my fine Arabian stallions while I liveblog it on my solid gold typepad account. C'est tres magnificique! (sp?)"
In a display of the trenchant policy analysis that has made her famous, Madame Lady Lynn Forest Whittaker de Rothschild von Pooter explained her McCain endorsement by saying of Obama:
"Frankly, I don't like him."
(As an Obama supporter, I would humbly request that Ladyboo Lynn de Forester von Chili Con Carne travel around the country, greeting voters and announcing that she doesn't like Barack Obama. Please don't forget to wear one of those floofy, flouncey scarves that you can buy at the MoMA store, and also please don't forget to sneer at everyone. May I also request that you wear all your jewels at once?)
I'm sure Obama will lose a lot of sleep over this. I know he was craving the endorsement. After all, we're talking about Baroness Lassie Lynn de von Forester d'el der McRothschild von de Beers VIII, the type of lady every American can relate to and wants to be friends with and definitely doesn't laugh at as soon as she turns her back (to check on her portfolio of private planets she owns).
Maybe now she and Cindy McCain can go shopping together and buy jewels at Cartier and be all like, "Ooh girl, that gem looks so good on your earlobe!" or whatever it is stupid rich old ladies do all day.

Yes, Lady Rothschild, do us all a favor and travel through the south in your Mercedes telling everyone how McCain represents the rednecks. Please.
We were told that certain of Hillary's supporters were so incensed that Obama defeated her in the Dem. primaries, they would find a way to get even. Guys and gals, I present to you Exhibit "A" : the homely, demure, non-social climber, hero of the 'redneck' Nation, Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild.
Methinks that the Lady of Rothschild does not like the uppity black man who beat her girl, Hillary. Too bad Lynn. There is karma, and it will come back to bite you in the A$$.
Oh boy… This post, most of the responses, and Campbell Brown of CNN all need an English lesson…
Rothschild called Obama and “elitist.” She is a member of “the elite.” Two different things.
ELITE:
1a. A group or class of persons, or a member of such a group or class, ENJOYING superior intellectual, social, or economic status: “In addition to notions of social equality there was much emphasis on the role of elites and of heroes within them” Times Literary Supplement.
1b. The best or most skilled members of a group: the football team’s elite.
2. A size of type on a typewriter, equal to 12 characters per linear inch.
ELITIST:
1. The BELIEF that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups DESERVE FAVORED TREATMENT by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.
2a. The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class.
2b. CONTROL, RULE, or DOMINATION by such a group or class.
You would have to know Rothschild and her attitudes to label her an elitist. Words mean things people, learn them! Please!!
And she would have to know Obama and his attitudes to call him an elitist. Please note she called him an elitist, which would make her ignorant. He never even acknowledged her.
Elitists don't follow up their priviledged Ivy League education to work with the poor in Chicago. She needs to either find a more coherent reason to support McCain or shut up.
Yes. Well said. Thank you for saying it, RomeoinFl.
I would also add that given the tone of Howboutsomesense schooling on the proper distinction between the words 'elite' and 'elitist', I'd say he's exhibiting the very traits of a an elitist.
Agreed, she would have to know Obama and his attitudes to call him an "elitist." Otherwise it is poor form on her part.
Does she know him or his attitudes well enough to give him that label? My thinking is players like Lady Rothschild mill around with each other at all kinds of party events and have done so for a fair number of years. If she doesn't know Obama on a first-hand basis, I would think she would at least know people that know him well. Maybe she is genuine in the use of her term? If not, shame on her...
And she would have to know Obama and his attitudes. Remember, she called him an elitist, by your definition, that makes her ignorant. Obama never even acknowledged her.
For the Record, "Elitists" don't follow up their priviledged Ivy League education to work with the poor in Chicago. She needs to either find a more coherent reason to justify her support for McCain, or SHUT UP.
Harhar.
If a prominent Clinton supporter has a problem with Obama, I'd really like to understand what it might be. I think it's important to understand issues to make good decisions.
I'm a leftie because "liberal" policies tend to work better than "conservative" ones. The facts say so; we have proof. But that fact itself becomes obscured when "our side" turns what should be a sensible discussion into a series of playground taunts. We should promote open and honest discussion, instead of trying to obscure issues with cheap shots and childish putdowns.
We win if we can talk sense to opponents. You don't convince anyone by insulting them. Propagandizing gets in the way, and makes us look just as bad as the worst of the right. Please try not to be part of the problem.
Well i for one have enjoyed many a drunken revelry with her Rothpippil wine at 4 dollars a bottle!
I LOVE "Get Your War On"!!!!!!!! Big fan, Big fan. (23/6) "Rape based economy" I am still laughing.
Rothchild, Rothchild...... Where do I know that name? Is she Rothchild of BIG BANKING-Rothchild? hmmmmmm curious.
Don't forget - that's Rothschild - with an S.
David, thanks for the laugh, I needed one.
mccain owns so many homes he's actually lost count, and obama is an elitist? the irony here is obama is the most middle class, " real" candidate we,ve had for years- he was raised IN the middle class by hardworking grandparents who struggled to put their grandson through school and i doubt there were many barons and baronnesses in their neighborhood
a fancy woman? was she a fancy woman when she raised millions for the democrat party?
now that she has seen the light, she's just a wealthy, fancy woman.
she gets it.
smart, smart woman that could bury anyone with her brilliance.
atta girl!
Really, now, I can't say he's black, can I?
WONDERFUL YOU KNOW SHE IS A RACIST
This just in: Ms. Rothschild today referred to McCain's supporters as "rednecks". Wow! Elitist, anyone?
Excellent...another vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Well that makes, what, 2 or 3?
from 0 to 1?
hey, viktor, in the words of another of your heroes- "go cheney yourself"
Brilliant! I'm sure the Brits laugh up their sleeves at this poseur; but fear not, Lady Lynn is no doubt even now winging her way to her Fortresss of Solitude, there to remain for the duration of the campaign, gobbling fairy cakes and quaffing champagne.
