Obama Awarded Nobel Peace Prize for Not Being George Bush

The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded this year's Nobel Peace Prize to U.S. President Barack Obama, citing "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," as well as his "work for a world without nuclear weapons."

However, it is rumored that the official citation, when held up to a light, actually

  1. Commends Obama for not being George W. Bush
  2. Commends the American people for rejecting the presidential candidate who, in the most important decision of his life, chose Sarah Palin to be his vice-presidential running mate
  3. Commends Obama for pledging to engage in the sort of global diplomacy that was considered the norm for presidents of both parties before the presidency of George W. Bush
  4. Expresses the hope that the award will make Obama feel guilty enough to turn his fine words into action.

Well, this certainly drags down the name of the "peace prize", that's for sure.

What was once a distinguished prize is now handed out to someone who's done virtually nothing at all in office . Unless, of course you can count 'not being Bush' as something. In that case, I'll be expecting my peace prize any day now, because I'm certainly NOT Bush (or a fan of Bush) either.

Here's a thought:
How about we actually make people DO something for a prize, instead of handing it out to anyone who is "man of the year", or "president of the U.S", or , well, you get my drift. Wake up, Obama has done NOTHING to deserve a peace prize, certainly nothing more than Bush, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, or anyone before him that hasn't received one did!

This article supposes a bunch of negatives as the reasons behind the Nobel Prize. Not this, not that, not electing..., etc. Well that's ok. I see these as positive reinforcements to the kind of internatioal behavior I want my country to be. So what if these reasons were all motivated by anti neo con and anti GW Bush feelings. That is a good thing in my mind. Congrats President Obama.
