'Paperback Writer': A Playlist in Praise of Physical Books

Call me a caveman, but as much as I love getting my news here, I STILL like physical books more than ebooks, iPads, Kindles, Fires and even the prospect of getting a little quick Nook-ie.

I love books. I love them hard and I love them soft. But most of all, even in this brave new digital age, I still love them when I can hold them in my hands and actually turn the pages, old school. Call me a caveman, but as much as I love getting my news here, I STILL like physical books more than Ebooks, iPads, Kindles, Fires and even the prospect of getting a little quick Nook-ie. So in honor of the fact that Diary of a Player -- the best-selling book I wrote with the great country musician Brad Paisley -- comes out today as a rather fetching paperback, here's my playlist of some songs that are still classics in my book. As always, please add your own bookish songs below -- or just tell me how YOU prefer to read your books these days. Because as I see it, as a civilization, we still must publish or perish. So in other words, please buy Diary of a Player in paperback today -- or risk our total cultural extinction.
