"Tell It Like It Is": A Playlist For Repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Posted: Updated:

No, you didn't actually ask, but let me tell you anyway, okay? Personally, I'm officially tired of the outdated double standard that is our military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. If a straight, coward like me thinks this way, just imagine how a patriotic, brave young gay serviceperson must feel about it. Here then is a straight-talking, non-homophobic playlist to accompany the repeal of this outdated policy. As Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen said at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing earlier this year, "No matter how I look at the issue . . . I cannot escape being troubled by the fact that we have in place a policy which forces young men and women to lie about who they are in order to defend their fellow citizens...For me, it comes down to integrity -- theirs as individuals and ours as an institution." I like those words, but I think it needs a bouncy tune.

Now I am asking, so please tell me: what songs you would add here?
