I never gave clothes much thought, but I knew the moment my daughter refused to wear jeans at the age of two because they were "ugly," I was outclassed.

That precious toddler grew up to be my stylish Sarah who now works for Stylelist and lives and breathes fashion. My view of fashion remains the sale rack of my local discount store, but occasionally our worlds collide, like when she invited me to my first ever show during New York Fashion Week. I had a great day people watching, but found the show itself kind of boring, with blah dresses I couldn't see me, or anyone else, actually wearing.

And just when I thought it was all over, apparently there is a London Fashion Week, with more unwearable, overpriced clothes, celebrities angling to be photographed and skinny girls wearing outfits that I will never find in a discount store. But obviously, I just don't get it.
