there can be no I am without a vitality and intelligence that exists in the universe and beyond and before the universe. the universe is eternal, that which is limited by time. that which is beyond time and with no boundaries is infinite.

now if deepak calls this vitality and intelligence god then his statement I am therefore god exists is a correct statement.

he is not saying he is god just that if he exists than this vitality and intelligence exists.

deepak knows little about the afterlife but he did bring enlightened hinduism to america.

which is much more advanced than most christian teachings with their emphasis on sacrifice to appease an angry god. ie a god made in their image.

The journey continues.. Our personal evolution to learn and develop by our own choices is the point but it sure stirs up the emotions in people. I am amazed at how easy it is for people to pass judgment when they obviously haven't put much time into understanding the process. If you're not happy with the "teacher" find a different one. The problem with watching an amazing short video like this so many people won't realize all the hard work that goes into "getting it". The Ego struggle takes a lifetime.. Nothing worthwhile in life is easy, especially our own evolution! Deepak is an amazing teacher, one of my most cherished. Forever greatful, Peace :-)

An infant born with leukemia; a six-year-old with a dozen stage four lymphoma tumors in his intestines--I have seen both in my sojourns through the cancer clinics. "I am, God is?" They created their own reality--before their brains had a chance to develop?

I've practiced Taoist qigong/meditation for almost two decades--helped me beat the stage four lymphoma. I haven't noticed my "apotheosis", as my skeleton was ravaged by the disease and am in continuous pain. Guess I have to pony up for some expensive seminars to decipher what I've been doing wrong.

We've all struggled with "If there is a God, why do terrible things happen to good people, even innocent children?" I have never been satisfied either when I hear the New Age philosophy that we choose what we are going to experience, even before birth. But I do feel resonance with Deepak's statement that "Our choices create our reality." I take the OUR CHOICES to mean OUR COLLECTIVE CHOICES. Is cancer caused by environmental poisons such as pesticides we have unleashed on the earth and our bodies? Possibly. Are the horrors of war caused by human choices to go to war? Probably. Can you transcend your pain through your spiritual efforts (along with everything alternative and conventional medicine has to offer)? I dearly hope so.
Namaste!

Certainly our choices create a good chunk of our reality--there's nothing metaphysical about that. Positive thinking, followed by positive action. That being said, one can do all the right things and still have a bad result. "Shit happens," as my Taoist friends say. We can't control everything as if we are gods and goddesses.

The old saw:"We are spiritual beings having a human experience." If that is the case, we have to remember that we are subject to physical law--pitch a tent in the ruins of Chernobyl without protective gear and you will get leukemia from high radiation levels. That's a guarantee.

As far as cancer rates, in the eighties one-in-four Americans were destined to contract it; today one-in-three women and one-in-two men (ACS). We are under a continuous barrage of carcinogens in the food and water we consume and the air we breathe. And radiation exposure from our technologies. One-third of all dogs in America die of cancer; they are mammals like us and subject to the same environmental pressures.

But the notion that we create the totality of our reality sells books and packs seminars. As Hemingway wrote: "It would be pretty to think so."

It's just a sneaky way to say you are god...

You know how you can tell when you are dealing with an egomaniac... when they say: "I Am, Therefore God Is"

O.K. God is,
So what's next, my dear neighbor?

If the word "God" can mean anything, then it means nothing.

Good point. Probably also "I" for that matter.
