Democracy Now!'s Sharif Abdel Kouddous Describes Pro-Mubarak Supporter's Hate for Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya (VIDEO)

Kouddous was approached by a presumed pro-Mubarak supporter who asked if he worked for Al Jazeera or Al Arabiya. When he answered "no," the man responded, if he was, with a threatening gesture, crossing his fingers across his throat.

Democracy Now! Senior Producer Sharif Abdel Kouddous describes his experience walking to the TV studio in Cairo this morning and being approached by a man in the crowd, a presumed pro-Mubarak supporter, who asked him if he worked for Al Jazeera or Al Arabiya. When he answered "no," the man responded that if he was working with those media outlets then... with a silent threatening gesture, crossed his fingers across his throat.

Reports coming out of Cairo say journalists are being attacked and beaten.

Kouddous gave this live report from Cairo near Tahrir Square, along with University of California-Davis Professor Noha Radwan. This report was broadcast approximately at 8:30 a.m. EST on Feb. 2. Kouddous was also interviewed by telephone live from Tahrir Square earlier in the morning.
